Mr. Porter is one of three fellows who will participate in the 10-month program that increases the visibility of nonprofit leaders nationwide, so others can see what is possible in their own communities.⁣ ⁣ We are so thankful for the opportunity to partner with the Manhattan Institute, to share our model of ministry with a broader audience, spreading dignity and hope to other inner-city neighborhoods across the country. As part of the end of year wrap-up and with being a new program, we've been doing surveys with the kids to see what has worked this year and what hasn't. The last question on the survey is - Who was Jesus to you before coming to New Horizons, and who is He now? Yesterday these SIX #worldchangers expressed (in their own cute words) that they were lost, but now they are found. I love that they understand the power of their choice, and they are choosing to put all their faith in Jesus Christ. Elijah (the smiley one holding his Bible) walked around after our conversation telling literally EVERYONE in sight, "I believe in Jesus!" I gave him a Bible and he carried it around like a treasure, eagerly highlighting our memory verses from this year. I told him to tell @thatotherhannah what was going on in his heart, and instead of repeating a phrase he has heard before he said, "I chose my trust today. I trust Jesus." I chose my trust. I trust Jesus. I keep repeating it over and over because it's just so good. Simple, and beautiful, and good. My prayer is that his faith would always be this childlike and that his heart would always be this undivided. So this morning I woke up and declared my new daily mantra, "I chose my trust today. I trust Jesus."
