B A T H A L F Not my usual type of post but I really wanted this to feature on my grid because I’m actually so blemmin proud of myself! Yesterday I ran 13.1miles for @diabetesuk a charity that for obvious reasons is extremely close to my heart. The atmosphere at @bathhalf was incredible and the money that I raised is worth every ache and pain I’m feeling today. This is a big achievement for me. Thank you to everyone that sponsored me, sent me words of encouragement and supported me in any way and a big shout out to my body, my legs and my feet for continuing to work for 2hrs 30mins straight. GO ME!!! #teamduk #halfmarathon #bathhalf #bathalf #bathhalf2019 #diabetesuk #fundraising #halfmarathonrunner #keeprunning #proudmoment

Controlling/ management of BG and lowering your HBA1C..
⠀
The biggest priority for me in my day to day life is managing my blood glucose, high episodes of BG cause many long term health complications ultimately leading to death, low BG can lead to a diabetic coma if untreated and again, can be deadly.
There’s no lenience when it comes to management of your diabetes, you don’t get to take a day or from it, or even a second, it’s there and it’s there for ever so sometimes you just need to suck it up and get on with it.
⠀
Tips to take control of your diabetes:
- Test as regular as physically possible, I have the libre and don’t tend to go an hour without checking my BG.
- Stay hydrated, this helps with preventing high BG.
- Exercise, a huge factor in management - since training my A1C has remained around the 5.2 mark.
- Pre bolus, most people don’t release that their A1C is high because they don’t know they’re spiking between meals, anything over 25g of carbs I tend to bolus my insulin prior to eating it, account for snacks later on with correction doses.
- LISS, if your levels are very high, drink a lot of water and do low intensity steady state cardio.
- Know your ratios! Knowing your insulin sensitivity and what your carb:insulin ratios should be is a game changer, it means you can be so accurate with dosing insulin.
- Ensure your background insulin is where it should be, a lot of people change their rapid insulin but forget what a huge impact levemir/ lantus can actually have!
- Don’t over treat hypos, work out roughly how many grams of fast acting sugar you need to treat a low and how many grams of carb stabilisers you need to steady your levels off, fight the urge to eat the entire kitchen and then some because it’s going to cause you to spike and feel rubbish!

Couldn't even count the amount of times people assume I cant eat/drink anything with sugar in just because I am diabetic; when actually, in reality, I couldn't count the amount of times sugar has actually saved my life. Oh the irony.
I will be taking part in @diabetesuk one million step challenge to help raise more awareness of this disease. (Link in bio if you would like to donate to a great cause)

DIABETES POST INCOMING!!
Easter weekend done! Insulin... Required!
I think most people overdo it a bit at Easter, but that's fine, you need to indulge in life sometimes! I think for me it's a reminder that eating endless amounts of chocolate just doesn't make me feel good who'd have thunk it? ♀️ So today I'm trying to get back to healthy eating and some running in this lovely weather we've been having!
Anybody got any plans for after the break?
I received these beautiful tapes from @expressionmedtape and I've got to say they make my Libre look even cooler than it does normally

Once upon a time, working out was punishment for the foods I ate.
.
It was a time to “destroy my body” and shrink it into a teeny tiny size that was not only unrealistic for myself, but that was *approved* by society.
.
Nutrition was for my waist line and not for my overall well being.
.
And then I started on my journey to self love. And exercising became a way to celebrate my body. And strength became my focus. And food was something I ate to stay alive and to enjoy. I learned to understand that bodies came in all different shapes and sizes and that one was not better than the other.
.
I’m so excited to join @t1aliabentley in High Wycombe, England to bring an event that celebrates ALL BODIES. With two completely different approaches to fitness, we will be hosting a workshop that presents tips on how to love the body you have. We will be providing tips on how to introduce exercise and nutrition into your life, without the focus being on weight loss.
.
Join us in person or virtually (I heard you!!!!) for an event that is applicable and important for ANY BODY
.
All tickets/ details are available in my bio link! Thankful for this opportunity and I hope you will join us for a workshop about building each other up and loving your body
