Honestly, It’s officially summer! Someone take me back to Barcelona for the amazing beaches and sunshine, please
I never thought that traveling to this extent would be possible for me, given my physical situation and all. I’ve learned it’s MORE than possible, and with a little patience and perseverance it can be easy too! So many phenomenal memories. I can’t wait to vacation again. Where to though?! Any ideas?! I’d love to vlog more about my travels ❤️❤️
Today was spent with this amazing lady @samantabullock - she invited me along to model for her debut accessible fashion range. SB clothing line launches 15 June 2019
A fashion brand designing comfortable and stylish garments adapted to wheelchair users
A year ago, Samanta Bullock, found herself wondering what was the point of having more disabled models if there are no designers making clothes for them to wear? The wheelchair model took the matter in her own hands and started the project of a high-end, sustainable and inclusive clothing brand.
The main purpose of the line is to dress people for the seating position, the items are designed to be comfortable and useful as well as nice looking for both seating and standing positions. According to Samanta: “It’s not about being disabled or wheelchair user, it’s about to be beautiful and comfortable while you are in the seating position”. Samanta decided on collaborating with different designers around the world to create a variety of collections for her customers. The brands she partnered up with are Rua Luja, London Organic, Bekoffee, Caroline, Gunda Hafner, Peter Twiss, Contessina London and Amaella.
I’m truly proud by of her and the fact that the fashion world is finally recognising that disabled people deserve to feel great, look amazing and empower themselves through clothes. With a spending power of £249 billion #purplepound its almost ludicrous to think we’ve been isolated from the fashion industry until now.
I surround myself with those who lift me up, see my worth and want me to succeed - Samanta is certainly one of my #cheerleaders and it’s an honour to be part of her exciting journey.

I know I shouldn’t have a favourite but I’m in love with the Lilac Samantha accessible handbag for @miatui !
I’m so proud of the whole range and the S/S19 colours are just better than I could have imagined.
So I believe fashion should know no boundaries and that includes fashion for the disabled community!
So how is the Samantha bag accessible? Wheelchair clips can be purchased along with the bags so it fits safely on the back of your manual or powered chair! If you aren’t comfortable with putting the bag on the back it also comes with a long over body strap.
The inside of the bags are either cream or electric blue for those of us with visual impairments or if you are like me a little tipsy and can never find your keys.
There is a key chain with larger clasp and the zip has been replaced by a larger piece of fabric for those of us with dexterity issues.
Finally there is a secret internal pocket for our she-wee / medication and all those personal bits and bobs.

I was out of the migraine cycle until 8:52 this morning when one of my babes rolled in for his good morning hug.. wearing brand-new, heavily applied body spray.
He smelled great. Really.
But I had an aura hovering by 9:10, and couldn't see my computer screen by 9:30 (writing on a SmartBoard when you can't see most of the SmartBoard was sisyphean and I don't even want to talk about it) and the head pain was cranked up to that 6-7 window by lunch time, which is not an horrifying pain level but is Very Not Great in a cafeteria with three hundred 13 year olds.
So today was rough. Because doing feelings and doing teachering are hard things to do when you're head hurts and you aren't really oriented in space-time right, and when you can taste colors, and when All I'm Saying Is The Lights Are Sort Of Loud Today is really hard and very draining and also it's suddenly very hot out.
I said "I don't have the emotional energy to give you right now. Give me five minutes to recharge so I can be in this 100%?" to three kids today? Which was a weird heavy thing, and perhaps an important part of the feelings we're doing.
Here's to optimism, rational or otherwise. And to daily hugs. Every day. Especially when you're wearing new cologne. And to saying increasingly weird but important things to my kids. And to this outfit, which was deemed "marginally punk" by the guy who teaches next door. [Image: Haley sits on the floor of her dining room. She wears a black striped shirt, and a black T-shirt that reads "THE FUTURE IS ACCESSIBLE" under a jean jacket that's worn over her shoulders. Her expression is worn, her forehead crinkled and her lips tight; it is a chagrined or perhaps sardonic expression.]
#UpAndDressed with a new do. Thanks to Erin and @elvashairdressing for my fabulous new hair do. The colour looks darker in this photo but it's a vibrant fuchsia and really pops in the sun. .

Okay. A week and a half later.
My port has healed up really well. My incisions look awesome. My bruises are almost gone. It's clear my surgeon did a fantastic job. And now I'm getting a liter of saline almost every day.
It's already made a big difference. I've had fewer migraines this week. More energy. Less brain fog. Very few vagal issues. And all of it is exciting stuff. Confetti and confetti accessories kind of stuff.
I'm still sore. I'm often frustrated by being hooked up to an IV bag for three hours a night. I miss showers that don't require foresight and planning and many versions of plastic wrap. I miss not having something on and it my chest.
But so far? I'm feeling pretty happy about it all. [Image description: Haley quirks her lips in a closed grin, and looks off to one side. She wears a full face of make up a black and pale pink dress, and a soft pink cardigan. She looks pleased with herself.]
#UpAndDressed Flashbacks. Sunshine on my shoulder defintiely makes me happy.

Wind scoured away the little heat the late afternoon sun added to the day. Numbness spread and muscles stopped working. The ever deepening purple lacework of Livedo reticularis captured in each subsequent frame as the sun dipped ever closer to the horizon. .
.
The birds took flight at just the right moment. Rawcous squawking ebbing and flowing in the blustery conditions. The emptiiness of the runway suddenly felt full of life. .
.
I can still feel it when I look at this image. A moment captured by my eldest son, fascilitated by a husband who, as with my youngest, just go with my ideas. .
.
The messy before and afters filled with laughter and chattering teeth as I flop around like one of those long inflatable men so often found out the front of car dealerships. Unsteady shaking legs in blustery conditions are not ideal or sensible. Yet when your son suggests instead of balancing with your walking stick you raise it to your shoulder and "It'll look great!" rings out, I simply go with it. .
.
And snap there it is. Birds in flight caught by the late afternoon sun, the outline of my walking stick and meters of fabric wrapped awkwardly around my body.
.
.
We laugh once more as I half fall, tipping forward walking stick slamming firmly on tarmac my other arm extended at strange angles until I stabalise and we move onto the next site. .
.
Life's definitely too short to not say Screw it!, wrap yourself in an old doona and take photos on an icy runway. And a family of engaged co-conspirators make the memory as golden as the sun. .

Sick & Surviving.

Currently how I I have been feeling. I have just been taking one day at a time hoping for some relief. Life lately has been completely overwhelming in every way possible.
•••
I have forced myself to start writing about the thing I know most about: living with chronic illness. Amazingly I have 2 articles being published on The Mighty! It amazes me that I have 1.2k followers and that people actually care about what I have to say.
•••
My Etsy has been reopened, I have a Redbubble with art I am proud of, and I have the focus to start making Youtube videos again! The creative energy is flowing with fingers crossed it doesn't leave too soon plus in almost no time I will have a space to truly be able to thrive and grow a business.

While I am so very thankful for all the opportunities I have been given recently I cannot help but think about the negative overwhelming side. My health has progressively gotten worse over the past 3 months and the light at the end of the tunnel seems so far away. I saw my rheumatologist about the withdrawal syndrome today and we are switching from Cymbalta to a low dose of Gabapentin. We are also going ahead with an MRI of my neck and testing for nerve damage with an entire list of bloodwork. I still have 3 other specialists I need to see to work the rest out. Honestly being tested on the regular is starting to bring up some upsetting memories and a little anxiety. Medical trauma is real and is not to be taken lightly. (and yeah I DID wear this to do adult stuff today. Gotta represent!)
