Over the years, one of the most frequently asked questions I've gotten is whether eucalyptus and peppermint are safe for babies and small kiddos. I love that we don't have to use those oils at all, if we choose. Spearmint is a wonderfully gentle oil that can be used to support our little ones in so many ways. The main chemical constituents of spearmint are carvone, beta pinene, and alpha pinene. It doesn't contain the menthol that is found in eucalyptus and peppermint, and can be used to support many of the same health goals. I love using spearmint to support healthy digestion. Just a drop in a tablespoon of carrier oil in a roller bottle is a wonderful way to support little tummies. I also love diffusing this with citrus oils to encourage healthy and clear airways. It can also gently cool the body to achieve an optimal body temperature when needed. This oil also does not affect breastmilk supply the way peppermint possibly can for some women. It is also great for boosting mental clarity and positive emotions. This oil can also inspire clarity of speech and communication. It would be great to use as support for kiddos learning to express themselves, and for adults who struggle with public speaking. This oil is beautiful with florals and citrus oils. This is such an easy way to clean your glasses or sunglasses, please use at own risk and be mindful that the lemon oil is extremely potent and can possibly eat through plastic frames or coating on sunglasses. Recently, the New York Times ran an article that brought awareness to the current frankincense situation. With the increase in its popularity and as more uses are found for the aromatic resin, the population of trees that produce it is on the brink of collapse. . According to a new study, "Boswellia populations are threatened by over-exploitation and ecosystem degradation, jeopardizing future resin production." Additionally, "Concerted conservation and restoration efforts are urgently needed to secure the long-term availability of this iconic product." The study’s authors estimate that without new trees to replace the old, half the intact forests — and half the frankincense they produce — will be gone within 20 years. . Frankincense is one of the most well known health promoting substances on earth. Unfortunately, as the demand has increased, more and more companies are trying to cash in on its popularity without considering the long term effects of over harvesting frankincense trees. . Thankfully, one of doTERRA's missions is to preserve these incredible plants while providing this precious oil. They had the foresight to create reserves of the highest quality frankincense resin, so they will be able to continue to offer it while allowing the trees to rest for 2 years. . Another way doTERRA is working to preserve frankincense trees, is by partnering with biologists, researchers, and conservationists, to help the people harvesting the frankincense understand how to harvest without risking the life of the tree. The smell of chemicals and artificial lemon makes me want to vomit be honest. And we are washing our dishes with these toxic products and then eating off them.. doesn’t sound very smart.⁣ .⁣ I have been making my own for over a year now and will never go back. Simple, easy, cheap!⁣ .⁣ 1 cup bicarbonate soda ⁣ 1/4 cup citric acid⁣ 1 tablespoon on guard cleaner concentrate/natural dishwashing liquid.⁣ 10 drops of grapefruit⁣ .⁣ Mix everything together in a glass bowl and give it a mix every half an hour till it’s dried and set in powder form.
