So I had someone reach out to my about the @metabo_north_america impact driver in regards to chuck wobble, so I wanted to investigate. I then noticed it too and decided to throw it against my @makitatools XDT 16. Two different bits but switched they ran smooth in the Mak which has the dual ball bearing chuck and pretty wobbly on the Metabo. Now it’s not a bent bit, these are both brand new and would have shown more wobble in the Mak if that were the case. I’m not saying the Metabo isn’t a bad tool, so far in my use I’ve found it to be a great impact, tons of intermittent speed setting other manufacturers do not give us, but this can be an issue if you run longer bits like these 12” R2s. So here’s the Atmoic Impact Driver from DEWALT. I’ve been using this quite a bit and honestly it’s not compact like everyone though it would be, to me it honestly feels like a slightly updated 886 impact which is a good thing. This got me thinking of how great the combo kit really is. Let’s say the average consumer isn’t going to be a tool nerd like the lot of us on here, walk into a box store and see an over abundant amount of available kits. For $179 you’ll land a quality and powerful drill and impact that in that ball park of a price the other competitors might fall. Bottom line it’s not a disappointing kit by any means. There’s quite a few kits out there for the Attomic combo, ACME sent me the Tstak promo bundle which gives you a nice locking case to store these tools in for 199. If you look closely you will see zig zag scars down my 3-5 fingers. These scars are a reminder how quickly things can change AND how we must adapt and keep going no matter what. • 20ish years ago I walking out of the woods back to the house, after clearing a spot for a camp site. I was using a machete to clear the way. It was a tool I’d used since I was a kid. I was doing everything right and safe, keeping a safe distance from my bros around me, using it as we made our way through the woods. I had it in my hand, down by my side as we crossed a creek, I stumbled over a log in the shin high water. As I went down on my right knee the machete stuck in the ground and I instinctively squeezed it for support. My hand was wet and slid off the handle and down the blade! It happened so fast. I cut both palm side tendons in all three fingers and all the nerves on the thumb side of each finger. I basically almost cut them off and had no ability to close those three fingers, they were just dangling. The mile run out of the woods is still a blur. I had to have major hand surgery to repair the tendons and extensive physical therapy. I was 18, right handed and owned my own business where I used my hands to make a living . I was back to work a week later, it wasnt easy but I figured it out and I was much slower. I did everything and more that the physical therapist told me because 90% of the time an injury like this leaves joints frozen and limits the use of the hand permanently. I have use now with only the pinky is slightly frozen. I’m very fortunate but also worked hard and made the best of a bad situation. • My hands have been my money maker since I was 12, that hard work has put me in a position now where I use my and as a sales professional in the HVAC trade to support my family. I still love and need to make and fix with my hands... that’s where this page comes from. • if you made it this far
