Wisst ihr, was voll anstrengend ist? Gelenkkrankheiten also, alle anderen Krankheiten sicher auch, aber hier kenn ich mich besser aus. Ich bin heute etwas früher heim gegangen und hab ein super spannendes Sport-Event ausfallen lassen, weil meine Schulter durchgehend brennt. Ich tippe auf Dislokation vor ner Weile und jetzt absolut genervte Nerven und Muskeln. Jedenfalls ganz großes aua und ich liege auf dem Sofa und finde bewegen doof - also eigentlich wie auch ohne Schmerzen oft am Wochenende Arzttermin habe ich Donnerstag früh, ich bin gespannt. Come state ragazzi? Spero bene. Io spero sempre di stare meglio, ma per ora non è così. In questa settimana ho fatto delle visite importanti con l’influenza intestinale e la febbre a 38, purtroppo non è stato proprio bello. ••• Una visita molto importante e di cui sono rimasta soddisfatta è sulla terapia del dolore all’Umberto I di Roma. La prima terapista del dolore che ho avuto, quando aveva terminato i farmaci “convenzionali” a disposizione (siamo arrivati fino alla morfina e non mi faceva ancora effetto sul dolore), lei ha iniziato a dirmi che i farmaci erano questi e ha iniziato a dubitare delle mie parole e a non credere più nel mio dolore. Nel corso della mia vita, molti medici e primari prestigiosi mi consideravano una ragazza con problemi mentali e non credevano nel mio dolore “invisibile”. Ma guardate un po’ adesso chi aveva ragione, stronzi vi dovrei denunciare tutti. Invece, finalmente, all’Umberto I di Roma mi hanno creduto in tutto e per tutto ed adesso sto iniziando una nuova terapia con dei farmaci che già prendevo (come la morfina), ma con l’aggiunta del CBD, che è una componente della cannabis e sono veramente contenta, perché, come sa chi mi segue da tanto, tutti gli antidolorifici esistenti al mondo, gli oppiodi e cose simili, non migliorano il mio dolore, perché sono farmaco resistente. Sono positiva per questa terapia, perché mi daranno anche qualcosa per tirarmi su il morale e la sapete la cosa bella? Oggi è successa una cosa molto bella che non mi era mai capitata in vita mia e volevo rendervi partecipi. Qualcuno che, senza interagire davvero, senza aver chiesto nulla, ha pensato di farmi un regalo bellissimo. Questo disegno è così bello che non ne posso immaginare uno fatto meglio. Solo il pensiero che qualcuno si sia messo lì a creare un qualcosa per me, che avesse perso tempo per fare una cosa per me, mi rende emotiva. Mi rende felice, emozionata, sorpresa, strabiliata, commossa. Mi rende davvero felice. Mi rende davvero felice perché non sono abituata a ricevere questi gesti gentili da parte delle persone, visto che la maggior parte di quelle che conoscevo mi hanno abbandonato senza pensarci neanche troppo. I am a face of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Living with a chronic illness that is rare, has no cure, little funding for research and one that has tried to (with only some success) take so much away from me... I just don't even have words other than - be glad it's not you. Seriously. That seems so harsh to say; but, I am grateful that I am surrounded by such LOVE as WE (thank you for all of YOUR support... I couldn't do it without so many of you) continue to battle this illness with no cure and all its co-morbid conditions that come along with it. • It has confined me to a wheelchair prior to the age of 30. • It has caused more pain than I can describe...so I won't start now • It has kept me away from countless celebrations, weddings and all of the other "normal" stuff that some can manage so easily • It has landed me with Endless hospital stays and ER visits • I could go on but I won't. I have grieved the loss of some aspects of the life I use to live.. and that’s OK. I will never have a biological child; knowing that I have at least a 50% chance of passing this on to a bio child. That is my own choice. I do not want to see a child go through this. One day, we will foster&adopt& I am grateful for that opportunity...one day. I do not want pity. I do not want sadness. I am not sad. I am happy it is NOT someone else I love suffering with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. I am thankful for my family, friends and the love of my life. But, I want a cure, yes. I do. One day, I believe that a cure will exist. I want awareness for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. ***Ultimately though, I want you to see and appreciate the absolutely beautiful body God created, sculpted with His own hands, just for you and to LOVE YOURSELF regardless of whatever flaws you may see in yourself.
