i think a lot about how growing up in the edwardian era must have been for girls. welcome to being a woman, here’s your corset. this girls dress from @slumberlandvintage has so many alterations that mark a girl growing up - i wonder how long she was able to wear this before it became “too short” or “not the right style” for a young woman. or how long before it became too big for her at the waist as she transitioned to tighter corsets. anyways, i took this photo in “accurate” period makeup - that is, none. i don’t miss much about being a girl but i do miss the lack of restrictions, the feeling of not knowing too much about how the world works and that being completely okay and completely freeing for now.
