Storms sometime mean you don’t have a choice... you just have to unplug and enjoy!! (This video is from yesterday, but with no power/phone signal obviously I couldn’t upload it...the phones are still out but the power and internet is back up and running!) #powercutscanbegood #phonefreefor24hours #makethemostofit #nofilter
The old jetty - on the west side of the beach (the non kiter zone). In the summer months, this is where the locals come to take a quick swim or to sit and ponder life... so this is probably the busiest stretch of beach... There’s usually at least a couple of people around - and on weekends it can get busy (relatively speaking!) You might see as many as 20-30 people in a 1km stretch! #emptybeach #busynotbusy #oldiesbutgoodies
The PINK lakes of Las Coloradas are fast becoming the HOT new tourist attraction - with people coming from afar to get that all important INSTA WORTHY photo...
However, I’ve just read a blog stating they’re not worth a 5 hour round trip from Merida (which to be fair, I’d probably agree with...)
But how sad that you’d come from Merida just to take a photo by the pink lakes? Why not spend time visiting all the other beautiful things the area has to offer...
*a crocodile and flamingo spotting boat trip from Rio Lagartos
*the virgin beaches dotted along the coast
*the fabulous fish restaurants in the picturesque town of San Felipe... *and of course the beautiful little fishing village of El Cuyo which you could use as a base to do all of this (and also try your hand at kiteboarding!) Thanks to @veronikasulc for the fabulous photo taken a couple of days ago... awesome!
