World Top 50: #9 El Toro Six Flags Great Adventure Intamin Pre-Fab Rating: 9.78 I’m anticipating a lot of comments on this one, for better or for worse. I go a little crazier every time I see this placed at #1 in the world. Also read this comment before you start yelling at me: The best traditional wooden coaster I’ve ridden is Mystic Timbers so IN MY EXPERIENCE, I can’t fathom a traditional woodie being that good, so on that note I do think this is the best traditional woodie and a ride on any woodie on this top 50 list could move that ranking up, but for now this is the spot and 9th is a very high ranking. The ride looks amazing no doubt, massive drop at a very steep angle coming off a curve makes for an unbelievable time in the back especially. The two hills that follow provide ultra-sustained very strong ejector airtime! The turnaround can be on the rough side from what I’ve heard but has some decent laterals. The return trip is comprised of two floater hills that no one says are noteworthy and put a dent in the pacing. The Rolling Thunder Hill follows which is allegedly one of the strongest airtime moments out there in terms of sheer power. I’ve heard its not sustained at all but it looks to last longer than it gets credit for. The remainder is comprised of several crossovers giving some more laterals and a little more airtime, but the roughness could very well return here. Four amazing moments earn Toro this elite world ranking, but a mere 4 moments simply can only put a ride so high when the roughness aspect mediocre parts get thrown in the mix. - Best Traditional Woodie?
