unpopular opinion: the most dangerous risk of all is spending your life not doing what you want, on the bet that you’ll be able to afford the freedom later. this mentality could be perceived as rebellious, non-conformational, and/or outright stupid. but it’s how i’ve lived my life and will continue to do so, being able to travel + work simultaneously... using the globe as my office space, and adventures as lunch breaks. you CAN work remotely. you CAN travel while you’re young and broke (trust me, that’s how i do it). in fact it’s better before you have a family or larger responsibilities and financial strains. but it requires strong sacrifices, compromises and a shift in mentality. check out my articles (link in bio) to learn more about customizing your life to include more travel and hopping of the bandwagon

When we look back on van life people often ask us, “Do you regret it?” I think this is where we as a culture need a major mindset shift. We believe that we shouldn’t take risks in life because they might not work out the way we hope. We should play it safe, and do the things that are comfortable and easy. The things that we know. But I don’t think any person who ever lived an interesting life played it safe. In the end we learned that van life is not for us, that the “California dream” we always idolized is not for us. That to me is not a regret, because how would we have known unless we tried? What amazes me about #God the most is he used a closed door to open the one he really had for us, which we never would have walked through without taking that first risk. Life is not a straight line going up; it’s a winding road with mountains and valleys that hopefully, lead you to become a person who realizes that they always have something more to learn. Putting #success first often means what you really value in life is the opinion of others. But what I’m after is not a life filled with only successes, but a story to tell. One that is likely to filled with both joy and hurt, laughter and embarrassment. And sitting around a table getting to share these stories of the ups and downs with fellow risk takers who may not have it all together but can connect on the fact we are both human and say, “me too”.
