Hope y’all are having an amazing Memorial Day Weekend! No Sunday scaries here! . Anyways, tonight I want to share an important message about body positivity with y’all. For every un-retouched swimsuit photo you post on Instagram with hashtag #aerieREAL , @aerie will donate $1 to @neda (National Eating Disorders Awareness) . If y’all have been following me for awhile, then you know I struggled with an eating disorder and extreme body image issues in high school. God so graciously healed me from this! However, many years into recovery, I still remained self-conscious about how my stomach looked in a bikini when I sat down, and would avoid taking pictures of myself sitting without wearing a cover-up. ▫️ . I’m kicking this last remnant of body negativity to the curb by posting this picture and letting y’all know that it’s okay if your stomach isn’t 100% flat in every single position, 100% of the time. It’s totally normal and healthy for a woman’s skin around her stomach to fold when she sits down. It’s not rolls and it’s not flab. And I wasn’t going to spend 30 minutes of my time on the beach trying to get a picture where my stomach looked “perfect.” I try to eat relatively healthy, and I run for 25-30 minutes several times a week for healthy exercise. But I will personally take enjoying sweets and ice cream daily over having a completely toned stomach. And I simply don’t have time to obsess over a grueling workout regimen. ▫️ . So I’m challenging y’all to do the same. Quit the negative body talk, and embrace the unique shape God gave you. And I encourage you to confidently post an un-retouched swimsuit pic as part of this Aerie campaign too. And comment one thing you like about yourself below .
