HAPPY FIRST DAY OF PRIDE ️‍ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Over the course of this project, I received hundreds of messages from members of the LGBTQ+ community from around the world. People who learned to accept their identity. People who came out to their friends and families. People who felt validated and represented by a television show for the first time in their lives. People as young as 10 years old, and people well into their twenties, who were so touched by this show that it helped them to take pride in their true selves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am included in those people. I have been open about not being straight for most of my life. But if it weren’t for the validation I felt from watching Andi Mack, and the incredible support I received from the community of fans surrounding this show - I’m not sure if I ever would have been comfortable with owning my identity as a non-binary lesbian. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been hard at work finishing up the cranes in order to ship them to Disney Channel, but I wanted to make a post in honor of the first day of pride month. I wanted to, once again, thank everyone who made Andi Mack what it is. You changed lives for the better, in every sense of the phrase. And to my fellow LGBTQ+ folk, remember that the impact this show has had does not end with the series. This show’s legacy will live on through all of us. And in the future, when Disney Channel and other children’s networks start being even more inclusive of different identities, Andi Mack will be a part of that too. Andi Mack is and always will be a part of LGBTQ+ media history, and that is something we should all be proud of

paper crane update: as of today all 1000 paper cranes have been folded, numbered, completed with messages from fans, and photographed for this page. i am going to strand them together on string this week, and finally ship them to disney channel next week. i don’t necessarily believe this will reverse the network’s decision to cancel the show - but i still want them to see how much the show means to us. i don’t know what they will do with the cranes, if they will keep them or throw them away or what. but so many people were a part of this and i am proud to say that the project is almost complete. i am going to continue posting pictures of the rest of the crane messages throughout june and july leading up to the finale. thank you to everyone who contributed to this project #AndiMack
