In a  field far away in another land No family there to hold his hand A soldier lays dying scared and alone Tears in his eyes as he dreams of home. His heart races fasters his time becomes near, All alone no one there to shed a tear, His life he has given in the blink of an eye, Words softly spoken as he whispers goodbye, The pain slips away but his memories last, As he dreams of his loved ones and times that have passed, Poppies now grow where this brave man once fell, A peaceful day where once there was hell, White tombstones all grand all in a line, A monument built to remember his time, A gentle loving man cut down in his prime, His only duty to give up his life  to save yours and mine.
