"Chronic pain has been shown to be associated with depression. This is not a surprising finding, as anyone who has lived with pain for any significant amount of time will know that the social isolation, inability to participate in normal activities of daily life, and sheer exhaustion, can lead to feelings of depression and hopelessness. Patients with chronic pain have a 2-5x increased risk for developing depression, and each condition affects the other: depression can worsen the perception of pain, and pain can worsen depression. Furthermore, studies have shown that when pain is moderate to severe, impairs daily functioning, and is difficult to treat, it is associated with worse depressive symptoms and outcomes. ⠀ ⠀ We need to move towards recognition of endometriosis as the life-altering disease that it is. We need to continue to strive to make effective treatment accessible for all patients with endometriosis. We need to make all care providers understand the severity of the pain that endometriosis can cause, so that the pain itself can be treated appropriately. With the start of Memorial weekend & enduring the final days of our 1st deployment, I’ve been deeply reflecting my journey as a military wife. Often waiting... Waiting... Waiting... Waiting for orders. Waiting for deployments. Waiting for phone calls. Waiting for reunions. Waiting for dates. Waiting for him to come home, time & time again. They call her 'Military Dependent', but she knows better: She is fiercely In-Dependent. She can balance a check book; Handle the yard work; Fix a noisy toilet; She is intimately familiar with drywall anchors and toggle bolts. She can file the taxes; Sell a house; Buy a car; Build a pool; Or set up a move... .....all with ONE Power of attorney. Military Wives have an instant & common bond: The Military Wife has a husband unlike other husbands; his commitment is unique. He doesn't have a 'JOB' He has a 'MISSION' that he can't just decide to quit... He's on-call for his country 24/7. His language is foreign TDY PCS OPR OCS ACU AIT CIB NCO POC And so, a Military Wife is a translator for her family and his. She is the long- distance link to keep them informed; the glue that holds them together. A Military Wife has her moments: She wants to wring his neck; Dye his uniform pink; Refuse to move or embark on something new; But she pulls herself together. Give her a few days, A travel brochure, A long hot bath, A pledge to the flag, A wedding picture, And she’s in. She supports. She moves. She follows. Why? What for? How come? You may think it is because she has lost her mind. But actually it is because she has lost her heart. It was stolen from her by a man, Who puts duty first, Who longs to deploy, Who salutes the flag, And whose boots in the doorway remind her that as long as he is her Military Husband, She will remain his military wife. And would have it no other way. ❤️

The struggle is unbelievable tonight. I’m 2.5 weeks post op and the pain is at an all time high. I refuse to sugarcoat my journey. Too many days I’ve spent telling people “I’m ok” “I’m fine” yeah, well sometimes it’s ok to not be ok. I’m not ok. Just because I just had about $100,000s worth of operations by a Endo specialist does not make me cured or ok by any means. But what I am is a fighter! I have seen & felt more pain and sadness in life than most see in a lifetime! Ask my best friends, I’m not exaggerating! Every fucking time I get back up and I move on, I kick ass and repeat! So even though I share my crazy life with y’all, especially the ugly it doesn’t mean I want pity, it’s because I’ve been on the other side where you feel so alone & you have no one there to comfort you & no one there to relate to and I go on Facebook or Instagram and I read a story or a status and I think “SHIT, that’s exactly what I’m going through! I guess I’m not alone!” And then I thank God for giving me a sign of hope and showing me grace! So go on and think I’m weak for showing the world the ugly sides of Endo and grief.
