Sona Viola is an artist who first fell in love with photography and the impact it can make, when she was a child. Creating stories and worlds behind each image taught her to expand her imagination, connect with an image, and eventually begin to create her own. After working many years in Marketing and Event planning for companies like Fujifilm, she left the corporate world to peruse her dream of photography and art. Over 13 years ago she began working as a Portrait and Commercial photographer and continues to do so today. She has expanded her career into exhibiting her Fine Art Collections throughout the NY/NJ area and curating her first exhibit this year. Keeping true to her aesthetics & style, Sona believes her goal is completed as an artist when the voice of her subject connects with its viewer and evokes emotion and thought.

Who’s this person at Bell-ans!!? V°LITION gallery located at Bell-ans Center of Creative Arts introduces Ian Healy, Artist.
Solo Exhibition “Silenced.” Opening Reception Saturday, April 13th 7 - 10 pm
Sona Viola, Curator.
Ian a native of Rockland County, NY, Ian graduated from Pace University before receiving his MFA from the New York Academy of Art in 2011.
During a graduate residency with the Terra Foundation in Giverny, France, he began to develop several constant themes in his artwork, which would continue to remain central upon his return to New York.
Working in both oil paint and charcoal, Ian evokes the emotions of loss, hopelessness, and despair through the physicality of his imagery. Referencing aspects of early Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, these works evoke a sense of foreboding and unease. Each piece projects their unique understanding of the passage of time, imposing their dramatic mood and enigmatic narrative into the viewer’s space. The organic elements of incapacitated figures, barren landscapes, and twisting, tenuous flesh are often juxtaposed with ropes, chains, and building detritus.
Most recently, Ian exhibited three large-scale charcoal and chalk drawings at Art Basel Miami in conjunction with Mana Contemporary and Juxatpoz. His work has also been shown in numerous New York galleries including Franklin Street Gallery, Mark Miller Gallery, and Fringe Gallery, among others. A collection of etchings and charcoal drawings will be the subject of an upcoming solo show at 1900 Gallery in Düsseldorf, Germany in spring of 2020.
