Disclaimer: Before you guys tear me up in the comments, I want to make it clear that I am by no means saying that you should avoid these foods if you want to lose weight.

Remember, weight loss is dictated by energy balance. To lose weight, you have to find a way to burn more calories than you take in. The foods on this list are high in calories and very easy to eat in excess, which can rack up your calorie total much faster than you realize.

I'm simply saying that if weight loss is your goal, too many of these foods can make things a little difficult for you. While you can absolutely still lose weight eating these, their higher calorie content can very easily throw you out of a calorie deficit & stall your weight loss.

My recommendation is to eat them in moderation, but be aware of just how easy they are to overeat. Actually measure out a serving of peanut butter, nuts, granola, etc….you just may realize what you thought was 1 serving turned out to be 2.5!

You reach a point where you're sick and tired of being out of shape, not having any energy, and lacking confidence. Something clicks and you decide you're going to go all in on weight loss and get into shape.

You make drastic changes to your diet, eliminating all junk foods, and possibly even whole food groups (i.e carbs). You maybe stick to this plan for a few weeks and make some progress, before something throws you off track (birthday party, holiday, night out with friends, etc.), and you fall right back into your old ways of eating. Along with falling off the wagon, you also gain back all the weight you lost, putting you right back where you started.

Eventually you will get a surge of motivation and do the same thing again, causing you to spin your wheels through the same unhealthy cycle over and over.

It's key that you change the way to look at being 'on' or 'off' the plan. You need to find the middle ground, where a majority of the foods you eat are healthy and nutrient dense, but also be able to incorporate some fun foods in moderation.

This will help you to stay on track, and stop you from viewing foods as good or bad. Your diet should be something you can stick to for the long-term….not something you do for just 4-6 weeks.

Find a way to make your eating a lifestyle, rather than a diet, and you will be well on your way to a healthier you!

Just keep in mind if on the label says "healthy" doesn't necessary means it is. Read nutritional labels, and you will be good. . . . .
All of my clients have struggled to lose fat in the past. They feel helpless like nothing will work for them & are fed up. Today, I wanted to share what all of my successful clients have in common:

The time is now. Stop waiting for the perfect time, as there is none. There will always be parties, events, work gatherings, weddings. Start now with 1 thing.

Take responsibility for your actions, habits & thoughts. Blaming genetics, your “slow” metabolism or others for your lack of success isn’t going to fix it. Take ownership of your decisions.
⠀
Ditch the all-or-nothing mentality. If you get a flat tire, would you pop the other 3 too? No. If you have a “bad” meal or miss a workout, just get back on track. Don’t sabotage yourself.
⠀
Do a time audit. If you let time slip away, you are giving up success & opportunity. Where can you optimize your time, reduce mindless scrolling, & make time for you (meal prep, gym, going for a walk, taking care of yourself!)?

Write shit down. Journal. Make lists. Write about your thoughts, your goals & what you want. Whatever it is, get it out of our head. Put it into the world. manifest it! Figure out what is holding you back & where you are sabotaging.

Get accountability. We have an easier time disappointing & letting ourselves down than we do someone else. Invest in a coach that will support you, help you see your blind spots & give you unbiased objective advice, getting you from point A to points B, C, D & beyond

Write down what you eat. Use an app like MyFitnessPal or take photos. But be honest w yourself so you can see where your diet is slipping thru the cracks. Nutrition is 95% responsible for your physique.

Sorry, but just because a food is “healthy”, doesn’t mean calories don’t count. ⠀⠀

The very notion of “healthy” is misunderstood, as the difference between a healthy food & a food that’s labeled "unhealthy" is just the nutrient density of said food…⠀⠀

And although “healthy” foods TEND to be lower in calories than junk, that doesn’t mean their calories don’t have the very same effect on your body weight. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
A calorie is a unit of energy (measured in kilo Joules), therefore a calorie is a calorie. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Calories do matter (a LOT), and if you’re looking to lose fat, you need to monitor your daily intake closely. Even if you’re eating fillet mignon & asparagus. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
And because 2 portion sizes that can look very similar to you in everyday life (like 100 g VS 130 g of Salmon) can have a very different calorie content, monitoring your calorie intake means being VERY diligent with your portions.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
You can’t just conveniently fill your teaspoon of peanut butter with an amount that could fill a tablespoon, all the while telling yourself “IT’S OKAY, it’s just a few more grams.” ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
THAT could be the very reason why you’re NOT losing weight.⠀⠀
⠀⠀
Simply underestimating and/or underreporting your food intake. ⠀⠀
⠀⠀
A bit more of this, & one more bite of that, and "just" an extra piece of fruit, and so on... until you’ve cancelled your beautiful 800-calorie deficit. ⠀⠀

EASILY. ⠀⠀

If you swear you’re in a deficit but aren’t making progress, I would bet my savings account that this right here is your #1 problem. ⠀⠀

I encourage you to track your calories VERY precisely (and be 100% honest with yourself) for just 3 days by weighing your food to the gram with a kitchen scale…⠀⠀

1️⃣EZ-bar skull crushers 4x15 (I bring my elbows back on these in order to keep the tension at the top of the movement)
2️⃣Dumbbell overhead tricep extension 4x15 (I prefer to do this one sitting on the preacher curl bench, perfect back support and weight clearance)
3️⃣Close grip cable pushdown 3x15 (I try to retract my upper arms to achieve a full contraction of the long head of the triceps)
4️⃣Rope cable pushdown 3x15 (I dropped the weight mid-set and I let my arms come more to the front to grind out those 15 reps)

The photo on the left brings me back so clearly to this point a year ago. My friend was coming to pick me up and we were gonna go for a walk.. I didn’t fit any of my pants sweatpants or anything.. I just didn’t fit ANYTHING anymore. Chucked those XXL men’s shorts on that belonged to my boyfriend and cried. I felt so depressed, bloated, overweight but got outta the house and went on the walk anyway I’d started to tell myself to be kinder and more gentle to my beautiful damn self, and watch my mental health more.
