To the moment I decided to save my life. A year and a half ago I came to the harsh realization that if I didn’t drastically change my lifestyle, I wouldn’t make it to see my 30th birthday in just two short years. During the past 2 months when I was at home, I considered all the snacking options available in normal grocery stores around. Maggi, biscuits, even the so- called "protien cookies" by a big brand endorsed by one of favorite heros, namkeen, all sorts of things, I checked the calories of each one carefully. Ain't nothing within a decent calorie range to fit in as a "snack". They end up taking the calories of a good meal ! Maggi has somewhere around 380 calories per serving (I am not saying it's a complete no no, if you can spare that many calories for a snack, boy, good for you!)but I'd rather eat an egg sandwich within the same calorie limits and stay fuller for a longer period of time.
Fruits are a good snacking option as long as you don't eat up that as well in way excess quantities.
The whole thing that bugs me is all these things that we like to snack on have a very small serving size if we consider the calories. I got a namkin and to fit it within my calorie range for a snack I only had like 3-4 spoons of it. Like what, no thanks. I'd rather eat a big watermelon or grapes or something else in good quantity! (Although I did find some great icecream options within 120 calorie range. Ofcourse the portions were smaller and not a lot of options for flavours, but it was good, kaam chalau!)
