The other night, Kerry and I sat down to look at our test results, to talk about my appointment with the RE and to talk about what we want our plan to be. It was a hard conversation but it needed to be had. I was starting to feel like the decision on “what to do” was on my shoulders and I didn’t like that.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m always super open on this account and my blog, I’ve been struggling with sharing lately only because I don’t really know what’s going on or what we are going to do. I’m confused and still have a hundred unanswered questions. With every test result, I feel more and more lost in this journey.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kerry said to me, something that he says often, that one day this will make sense. I know I write that often on this account but we are holding on to that moment. I told him that I have this dream where it’s the exact moment that I realize all of this was worth it. In that dream, I look down at our child and cry (from happiness for once) because I can’t imagine my life without them. I have to believe that all of this is preparing me for what we have asked for.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Friends, if you are having a hard day, please know that you aren’t alone. You are not alone in your journey, in your pain, in your hopes and dreams. We will get through this. Just think… what if everything you have been through is preparing you for everything you asked for?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Happy Saturday my warriors. ✨

***EP. 34 EGGOLOGY: FREEZING YOUR EGGS IN YOUR 20'S AND 30'S Part 1***
To conceive or not to conceive...and when? More women are asking these questions, particularly millennial women.
Luckily assisted reproductive technology such as eggfreezing is becoming a more common as women seek the freedom to decide when to have a family.
However, there's still a lot of secrecy surrounding the subject of fertility, especially for women who have trouble conceiving.
Fertility expert Valerie Landis is the founder of @eggsperience_ and the podcast host of @eggologyclub. She joins @skooledpodcast to share key facts about fertility assistance and her own experience of freezing her eggs.

Families come in all shapes and sizes and no two paths are identical. I fulfilled my desires to have more children through foster care and adoption and the decision to do so took much prayer, study, and family conversations with my husband. The more options a woman and couples have, the better. And if you find yourself searching for the right fertility center for yourself… start with the Colorado Center for Reproductive Medicine (CCRM) which has been one of the industry’s leading pioneers in fertility science, research and advancement for decades.
I wanted to advocate for a fertility center that was centered around women and celebrated women! Head to the link in my bio to learn more about @CCRMfertility as well as read some words from my followers about their journey through infertility.

You may recognize Meg & Zack, one of our finalists from last years Fertility Diaries contest. Meg was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer (resulting in a hysterectomy) two days after her tenth (yes, TENTH) birthday. Due to the chemotherapy she received as a child, she was told that it was likely she didn’t have any viable eggs left in her remaining ovary. Fast forward 16 years, she and Zack decided to find out for sure and scheduled an appointment at TFC with Dr. Dodds. Now, 22 months later, and with the help of a childhood friend who so generously offered to be her gestational carrier, she is the proud mama to this beautiful baby boy, Peter.

Please join us in a very warm congratulations to this sweet family

Speaking of The Fertility Diaries...keep an eye on our page next week...wouldn’t want you to miss out on any big news
Political affiliations aside, I appreciate that more women in high powered/public positions are sharing their own struggles with infertility, pregnancy loss and shaking free of the #taboos surrounding whether to admit that they sought services like in vitro fertilization (#IVF), using a gestational carrier (#surrogate) or using donated eggs or embryos or sperm.
*
It is especially heartening that women of color are also sharing. There are just so many taboos which culturally shame and dare I say, torture many women of color who want to become parents. It ranges from beliefs that they could never afford these services to fears of being socially ostracized or being seen as defective if it is discovered they sought these services.
*
As physicians, we also have to make our clinics and approaches to these patients more user friendly. We can start by recognizing that it can be quite intimidating for women of color or certain ethnic/cultural or religious groups to come to our clinics and even more so if they arrive to your clinic and no one there looks like them or is able to speak their language.
*
Hopefully, as we broaden these conversations about the fertility journey, by seeing more women who are representative of diverse backgrounds, ethnicities and cultures, coming forward and sharing their stories we can actually help deconstruct these taboos and get all women who need it, the help they deserve. #1in8 #reproductionisahumanright #ttc

Do you know that your baby was born differently and unique?
.
Is this meme a slow or fast one for your baby?
.
.
For me Mateo was already holdings things and standing at 7 months. At 8 months he started climbing staircase on his own , i was dazed and scared the 1st day i saw him but excited at the move he was making...
.
Do you also know that some babies develop faster than others? .
.
.
.
.
Your baby gets bigger and stronger every month.Your baby's growth and development is both delightful ( coos! cuddles!) and dizzying (with all the crying, feeding and diapering, you've got your hands full).
.
But in all give thanks to God for how your baby is growing
