•WEIGHTS OR CARDIO?•
Someone recently asked me a question at work; Which one would you recommend if you had to choose between doing either weights or cardio?
Answer: Definitely weights, because by building muscle you boost your metabolism, and when I mean building muscle I'm not talking incredible Hulk level, I mean a well balanced and toned physique that is very feminine, I did add though that they try and be as active as possible outside of the gym, it's actually the stuff that happens outside of Instagram that makes the difference, you know the healthy meals that might not get posted because they look visually not as like worthy, getting enough quality sleep in, keeping stress low, and those sessions where you go all out but you can't post up because your mascara has merged with your sweat and ran down your cheeks.

I always get asked how I stay motivated to do what I do and the honest answer is I’VE FOUND MY WHY!!! I definitely have days where I can’t be bothered and just want to throw in the towel, but knowing that I’m accountable to many of you beautiful people keeps me on my toes and in the zone.

So here’s a bit of #mondaymotivation for you . I had the pleasure of doing this campaign with @reebokuk and @sportsdirecttraining for the new Reebok ‘Meet You There’ collection which is all about celebrating women who aren’t afraid to #BreakTheStandard. I cant even explain how I’m feeling right now. If you’ve been following me for a while, you would have heard me speak about the lack of diversity and visibility of women of colour in the fitness industry.

Recently, @ellelinton made a valid point and reminded me that in order for there to be change, we need to CONTINUE doing what we’re doing and be the change that we want to see. This campaign has made me realise that I am doing just that and I’m not even doing it alone. I took my @traintoslay squad @lovemavunga @b_aelly @maddyofiit @poppet845 @yollie__ with me because they are a joy to train, and I need them just as much as they need me ♀️❤️

4 Key Pieces to Generating Clients

1️⃣Be approachable
.
Gym settings can be intimidating for anyone, especially those new to fitness or in most need of guidance. If you’re constantly standing in the corner glaring with your arms crossed, no one is going to ask for your help, even if they know you could give it. Simply smiling and being polite can go a long way in the mind of a gym goer considering asking for assistance.

2️⃣ Create personal connections as soon as you meet with a potential client
.
Whenever i meet with someone during a consult or free assessment, I make sure to create a personal connection within the first few minutes of conversation. This might be about where they went to school, why they hate cardio, or what their favorite restaurant is- it doesn’t matter. People are threatened by those who are different- once you show similarities, they’re more likely to relax their guard and enjoy the session.

3️⃣ Give your brand a positive vibe
.
Lots of trainers, myself included, can get caught up on the negatives in the fitness industry. If your general messages, in person or on social media, are “Why Pilates Is a Waste of Time” and “Why Your Trainer Sucks and I Know It”, you’re not going to get a lot of positivity back, even if your points are all valid. Customers don’t care about the beefs you have with others, and they’d rather spend their time with someone who leaves them feeling uplifted, not depressed.

4️⃣Focus on long term relationships, not getting paid today
.
When it comes to late cancels, moving sessions, etc, I tell my clients that if it’s only happening on a rare occasion, I’ll let it slide. Shit happens in life, and if you show that you have empathy and understanding, your client will remember that. Your business is only as good as the relationships you foster, and long term growth is the priority. .
