Complete Biceps Training - Love this post by @tommaccormick - To fully stimulate a muscle, you must challenge it across its entire contractile range. And just doing a full range of motion (ROM) in the big lifts won't achieve this. Moving through a full ROM is very different than being challenged over a full ROM. You see, muscles need to be worked in the mid-range, lengthened, and shortened position. Most exercises don't require you to produce a constant force at all points throughout the ROM. Changes in the length of the lever during an exercise mean that force differs across the range of motion. To train a muscle at all points along its strength curve usually requires at least two, and often three, exercises. You don't have to do exercises for all three positions within one workout. If you train a muscle several times a week, you can distribute these exercises across multiple sessions. Staying On Track During a Vacation ⠀ I still have 8 weeks left of my cut and I’ve given myself the goal to stay on track this trip. It’s honestly been quite hard to stay on track with my fat loss program during this trip. If you’ve been keeping up with my IG stories you’ll know I’ve been tracking my nutrition everyday despite the fact that I’ve been eating out for every meal. ⠀ It’s easy to stay consistent when you’re at home and have access to your own kitchen and ingredients. ⠀ On vacation you’re in an unfamiliar environment and the people you’re with are not on the same regime as you are, and probably think you’re strange cause they don’t understand why you’re doing it. ⠀ Additionally, it’s easy to say “screw it” and give up. I’ve caught myself thinking that a few times this trip already. But if I can do it so can you. - Think how good it’ll feel after the holiday knowing you did your best to stay on track. ⠀ ⭐️ The best advice I can give is to aim for consistency not perfection. When you’re on vacation you need to be more flexible. Some days will be easier to stay on track, and some will be almost impossible. If you’re on track 60-80% of the time, that’s amazing and enough to put you in a good position afterwards.⭐️ ⠀ Lastly, let the people around you know why you’re doing what you’re doing. It makes it less awkward and also keeps you accountable ⠀ On my story I asked if you guys would like to see a post about tracking your food while eating out and a lot of you wanted one. Happy hump day!! Check out these ⚠️- QUICK TIPS TO PROGRESS ON PULL UPS - - - 1️⃣ USE THE ASSISTED PULL-UP MACHINE IN YOUR GYM. It doesn’t matter how much assistance weight you need or “how few” you can do. So long as you keep doing them in a style of PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD - doing more reps/ less assistance weight (EITHER/or) each time, you will progress. This is also a good solution because most every gym has one - 2️⃣ GET A PULL UP BAR FOR YOUR HOME. Again, an easy, affordable, fits all solution. Practicing at home as often as I could is one of the main ways I got better on my pull-ups. Again, so long as you are doing your best to progress each time , with one more rep or half rep, and you are consistent, you should progress. - - Of course exercising your lats too in general helps (pulldowns, rows). 5️⃣ tips for a healthier life ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ 1️⃣ Troubles sleeping? Work on your breathing. Counting sheep doesn’t work, breath-work does. In through your nose, out through your mouth. ⁣⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Stretch after your workouts. Start nice and slow. Don’t overdo it. So often I see clients that have extremely fucked up their body from working out, putting on muscle and having no flexibility.⁣⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Work on your balance. Take a yoga class or do balancing exercises using a bosu ball. (I started taking a beginner yoga ‍♀️ class every Sunday morning before church and it’s been amazingggg. It really helps with my “Sunday scaries.”) ⁣⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Disconnect once a day from all technology for at least 30 min. (This one is super hard for me. Sometimes I leave my phone at home when I go on walks with my dogs, but the best way for me to totally disconnect and relax are long hot baths. ⁣⁣) ⁣ 5️⃣ Make that doctor appointment. Schedule out 6 month dental checkups and check ups you need with your doctor. We are all so worried about working out and our nutrition, but our general health is important too. No one likes going to the doctor, but it’s so important. Plus, if you keep avoiding it, it will be on your mind and we have enough on our mind. (I just got caught up on all my appointments and it feels so good.) ⁣⁣ ⁣ I hope one of these was helpful to you.
