Quiet morning, #QuietSigns ☕ #JessicaPratt is definitely one of my favorite finds from the past five years or so. Her sophomore effort, On Your Own Love Again, from 2015, is a masterpiece of folkie #dreampop (or dreamy #folkpop? ), chock full of melodies you thought can only exist in those dreams where The Last Unicorn and "Wuthering Heights"-era Kate Bush made an appearance. I personally think the LP should've gotten her more attention. But that might change with this though, her third album, and the first which she recorded in a proper studio. Her melodies and voice are still as dreamy, as otherworldly and, more importantly, as catchy as ever; and the music is still as wistful and as gorgeous as On Your Own..., albeit with refinements that include warm-sounding flutes and cinematic piano flourishes. Put it simply: if names like #VashtiBunyan, #RyleyWalker and #NickDrake float your boat, you might want to check this LP out. Behind-the-scenes!! It can be soooo awkward when you shoot a live video and want to break the silence when you’re done playing the song. You have to wait a second for the song to fade and for room in the video for credits at the end... it doesn’t help that I’m a dork and my adrenaline was in overdrive that day because of everything I went through to be there.l ...hiking two miles to cross a river in case y’all forgot. New song alert! Scott started working on this tune at the beginning of tour and we’ve been road testing it ever since. It is so far untitled, he’s set on calling it “Modern Life” but I’m leaning more towards “A Strange and Wondrous Place” because I feel it’s more descriptive.
