First time trying the beyond meat patty… and I gotta stay, it’s pretty solid. Let me do a bit of a monologue here: . It’s no secret, I’m an unconditional meat eater. I love my big steaks, pork chops and grilled lamb skewers (can you smell the fat dripping sizzling on that summer BBQ? Gawwwwww). And because it’s no secret for you, i’m pretty sure it’s also no secret for karma who most likely has me on a watchlist of people of the verge of tipping on its bad side. . SO. Because I believe it’s never too late and that everything starts with baby steps : I decided to (not?)kill two birds with one stone and celebrate an early-mother’s day at LOV, Montreal’s white-brick-walled vegan restaurant. Now don’t start panicking. I’m not giving up on meat anytime soon. I’m just, ya know, telling karma not to doom me just yet. . We got there, picked up the menu, and there it was, staring at me : ze Beyond Meat Cheeseburger . WOAH. That got the nerd in me really excited. The company did $87.9 million in sales last year (source : the internet), and their stocks skyrocketed after they first went public (but hey - I’m not telling you to buy their stocks. I’m just telling you it’s an exciting company that’s having a lot of success this year). Long story short to say that I *had* to give this beyond meat thing a try. . And it’s solid. It’s bouncy, juicy, and the fiber structure feels nice in the mouth. Does it taste like meat? It was actually more satisfying than many bad beef patties I’ve had in the past. . But is it *the best* “meat” I’ve ever had? Obviously not. I mean… where’s the dripping fat? . It remains that I like the philosophy behind this new food. It’s a plant-based burger that takes less resources to produce while remaining seriously delicious. What are you thoughts?
