Doing so old school bearing wall building today. No lasers or receivers. Just you a chalk line, saw and a Nailgun. I have chopped this video down quite a bit. Might actually upload the longer one to YouTube just the hell of it. First I pull parallels off my squared up plates. Tack nails on both sides. Pull my chalk line as tight as I can across the house so I have 0 sag. Then with my bottom plates on the footing (yes i said floor in the video) I simply stand up a stud and rub the line. No tape measure error. Just cut off 3” for your top plates and get that wall done. There is a dropped floor in the 2x6 wall which just means I had to consistently measure down from the scribes chalk line 18”. “Double Shear Walls” engineering requiring plywood on both sides of the wall to prevent lateral movement, these must be taken in consideration during layout, couple things I always make sure of is location, which side to install first that will make it easier for us framers and subs to perform, I always leave a gap when I plate these, its much easier to deal with at layout then when its time to shear!!
