Rather than letting that define her, she flipped the script, using her experience to speak out against bullying. We are so honored to have Lizzie lending her voice to our movement! Take it away...#fridayfeature / ' My grandma, Momo, passed away from Alzheimers at the end of last year. My mom is one of ten children which means I have lots of cousins and very large extended family. My Momo was the pillar to our family. To watch her go through each stage of this disease was heartbreaking to say the least. Staying true to who she was even when Alzheimers was taking away her memory, she still fought her hardest even until the very end. ' / Witnessing someone you love battling Alzheimers is like having an invisible burglar steal from your family member everyday right in font of you and there's nothing you can do about it. It's so important for us to be the voice for the millions of people who have had theirs taken away. My favorite way to relax is getting comfy on my couch with my pups, my family, or my friends and enjoying each others company.

Can anyone else relate? Another Friday Feature & this one is very heavy-hearted. A big thank you to @blueveganlife for sharing her story! "Years ago when my niece was a few years old, she asked me where the pieces of meat she was eating at that moment came from. She was very disappointed to know they came from an animal like a cow or a chicken. At that time I was an anti-bullfighting activist, yet I was still eating meat. A few years later, we were notified my mom had cancer. It was very difficult to go through the process of having a family member, especially someone as close as a mom, go through chemotherapy and go in and out of the hospital several times. After no more than a year after been told about my mom’s cancer she passed away. It was the saddest time of my life, so sad that a lot of things changed for me. I started seeing life in a very different way. For some reason it helped me to make a true connection with myself and I felt like I needed to make some big changes. My mom’s illness made me make the connection between the bullfighting and my plate, between my health and my eating habits. I felt a lot more compassionate about all other beings on earth. I started researching a lot about foods, vitamins, I watched a lot of documentaries like Food Matters and What the health. I realized also that our health doesn’t just depends on what we eat, but also what we put on our bodies like sunscreen and lotions. It is really true that our bodies are our temples, no wonder why nowadays there’s so many people suffering from cancer, diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses. I have become very aware of the fact that health depends on our eating habits. I have been able to help other people just by advising them to switch their diets. I’ve seen people who got rid of their eczema by not consuming any more dairy. I am sharing this story just because I know that when I changed to a plant based diet, my life changed completely. I feel a lot better, not only with my physical health, but also spiritually and mentally and I would love for everyone to feel the same way I do." Really love this one.
