I think these are called "murves." Or maybe a side effect of Doritos included in cheat meals. Yes. The secret is out. I'm a Doritos fiend. The Jacked buffalo ranch. I also love Kettle's jalapeño potato chips. I'm usually alone when I include either version with my cheat meal, so I don't worry about breathing on someone. . Okay, funny stuff aside. The serious topic that pictures on social media will not divulge is that my motivation has had numerous slumps this off season. I keep skipping workouts. Say what?! Is she really admitting that on social media? Don't all competitors kill it, grind it, beast-mode it? Ummm...no. We're humans. Sometimes we suck at things. Sometimes we miss the benchmarks along the way to our goals. Sometimes we're not sure why we have those goals. Or even if we should have our goals. We might be scratching our heads, saying, "what goals?" . Scrolling through social media, I sometimes feel shame for skipping a workout. It's easy to look at everyone posting pictures & videos while they talk about how this was their best lifting day, they can't be beat, they grind 28 hours a day, & don't need sleep because you can sleep when you die. (We NEED sleep.) Meanwhile, I'm here scrolling through pictures of dachshund puppies, then feeling guilty for looking at other dogs, then switching to my 3,000 photos of Roxi, crying, then looking at the clock, muttering, "How did it get to be 10 pm? Forget it. I'll get a good night's rest, not hit the snooze button, try again tomorrow & make it better." . It's not always that bad. But it happens once or twice a week. I wish it didn't. When I cleared out a ton of stuff to get ready for the new flooring installation, I ran across lots of old notes I kept. I had such fire when I wasn't a pro, fire when I turned pro, fire when I thought making it to the Olympia or winning a show was possible. Honestly, the likelihood of me winning or qualifying for the Olympia is low. I'm not a pessimist, just a realist. Sure, I'm almost good enough. But that "almost" has stolen my fire these last two off seasons. . Or is it that I'm just "almost" to me & that blew out the fire?
