Review of instax mini Accessory Set by Leebotree (Amazon Seller)
I was recently sent an accessory set for the instax mini 8/9 by the Amazon seller Leebotree with a request to review it and share my feelings about it here. I must admit I was a little sceptical about what I would think but I figured that there was no requirement for me to actually write anything but my true opinion, and after all it was free stuff!
So here it is. First of all, the basics. This kit costs A$31.99 on Amazon Australia, and is eligible for free shipping if your total amazon order is over $49. I think we can all agree that’s not a lot of money. So what do you get?
1. A PU instax mini 8/9 case with strap. It seems good quality, the camera fits well and there’s a pocket at the back for your shots to be stored.
2. A set of coloured close up filters - not sure what you would do with these but they could be used for selfies I suppose.
3. A close up lens with selfie mirror - handy for the mini 7 and 8 as these didn’t include a close up lens or selfie mirror like the 9 does.
4. An instax mini album that holds 64 photos in matching ice blue colour.
5. Five plastic desktop photo frames for instax mini shots
6. A total of 20 hanging frames with string and mini pegs
7. 40 stickers to accessorise your instax image with a colourful frame
8. Two sheets of photo corner holders for scrapbooking
9. A marker
That’s a lot of very girlie stuff! I can imagine that if I was a 12-17yo girl I would be right into this! All of the items appear of good quality, and the box they come in is cute. Overall if you were looking at buying a cheap gift for a young woman with a mini 8/9 I wouldn’t hesitate to get it. It’s cheap and gives you a lot for your money, and the packaging makes gifting it easy.
Shipping was fast and well packaged direct from Amazon.
As a man who is a lot older than 17 this accessory kit is not much use to me, but I happen to know that @mattlovescameras has a young daughter with a mini 9, so this will shortly be flying to sunny Brisbane where it will I’m sure get a very warm reception!

The Fujifilm instax Mini LiPlay Review - Part I - read on for details!
.
The Mini LiPlay is a hybrid instax Mini camera from Fujifilm, the third such camera after the square format SQ10 and SQ20. It is quite a different camera from the previous hybrids, with a different feature set.
.
First of all, it’s a very small camera, smaller than any of the instax models, and weighs under 300gm - it is very easy to fit into a jacket pocket, or just to walk around in your hand. .
It uses a digital camera module (like a phone camera) and prints the results onto the film, so it’s not an analog capture process. However the results from the lens are very clear and sharp, and the lack of shallow depth of field that bothered me on the SQ20 is much less obvious on the smaller film size of the LiPlay. The camera has a variable ISO up to 1600 so with its f/2 lens it can capture much lower light images than any other instax Mini camera (more on low light in Part II).
.
It loses the video capability of the SQ20 but gains the ability to record sound as the image is being taken, or afterwards. You can re-record the sound until you are happy, and then print a QR code on the film! When scanned this takes you to a website where the image is displayed and the sound can be heard. This means short greetings etc. can be recorded and the print send in a card etc. with the recipient able to hear your message. It’s actually a really fun feature.
.
The sound upload requires the free app, which also enables the LiPlay to work as a smartphone printer. I tested it against the SP-2, and the LiPlay output is better, slightly more contrast and truer to the original file. This is a HUGE plus for the LiPlay over any other instax Mini camera!
.
You can’t change brightness or filter choice after taking a shot BUT the LiPlay actually does alter the exposure with the +/- EV control, so you can retain highlight details better than the SQ20, which simply changes print density when EV +/- is selected.
.
More in Part II and III, but here’s a selection of images in daylight to start you off! Any questions or things you want covered? Let me know in the comments!
The beach? How about the mountains? The forest? Your instax can go wherever you do.
