When it comes to “on the go” diapering I’ve been liking my diaper pod. I haven’t used an actual diaper bag in a long time.. I also don’t leave the house often though lol. . . I never used to hang dry my covers. But then some of my PUL began crumbling and now I baby my cloth diapers a little more. I think it’s more the hot water but hey I keep finding things in my dryers from kid pockets so let’s keep it safe. . . Everything else goes in the dryer including fitteds and AIO diapers. . I know that hanging everything to dry would reduce overall energy consumption and costs but I don’t like crunchy diapers. Instead I make a more conscious effort to hang to dry everything else in my life To reduce consumption there. Because a T-shirt dries so much quicker than a hemp insert. Checks and balances . . I solidly do not believe there is a wrong way to hang pockets or cloth diaper covers and the obsession over it causes more grief than it’s worth. Instead I think you should be worried about how hard an agitator is in your diapers and remember that UV rays break down elastics. . . #gcdc2019 - day 11 - drying

It’s my stash of AIO and pocket cloth diapers that I grew increasingly frustrated with and decided to go back to basics and hide them in the closet. Day 19 - #gcdc2019 airtime is not mandatory, looks different for different people but can really help with some rashes and irritations. #clothdiapers . . When they started moving, I liked to do a loose flat pinned on. This gives a little more air with the comfort of not having my house peed on. It also shows me when baby pets do I can promptly change because one of the reasons rashes happen can be from infrequent changes. . . For us, one of the best ways to manage rashes in the early days was staying on top of wetness. And that didn’t mean synthetic stay dry laters but more regular changes, thoroughly drying the area, and occasionally letting them kick and be free. . . It’s less of an issue in toddlerhood. Day 2 #GCDC2019 - ON THE BUM - Cloth Diapers are bulky, eh? part of is perspective, if you don’t know anything but a paper bum, then yes it’s bulky. Part of it is the contents of the diaper and the fit of the diaper. This is a medium prefold in an @ampdiapers OS diaper on a 9 month old. it’s about adjusting the rise setting, pulling the elastics in the crease, folding the inserts, admitting no matter what a OS diaper on a newborn looks a little ridiculous and practicing. Day 17 #gcdc2019 Dunk or Swish. . This blurry video never made the cut and needs to be redone. Nonetheless, I’m a soak and swish kinda girl. Let the diaper soak for a few minutes come back and swish off all the funk. . . get your hands dirty because there’s always soap to wash up afterwards . . It’s still worth it because if you wanna save money or save the earth you have to get your hands dirty. Don’t be scared of gross things. This fear of the gross is what costs us money and the Earth . . I’ll collect poopy diapers when we were pooping multiple times a day. But once a day now and try to get to them ASAP. . The trick is change the bum QUICKLY. As soon as they sit in it, the diaper becomes a disaster. . . I tried liners and it didn’t work for me. I hated remembering to add them and they seemed like they just got the poop even messier. I had a sprayer and shield but we had constant bathroom leaks even with it turned off. . . This just feels easiest. Soap to wash up. And it forces me to clean the toilet regularly #itsjustpoop
