A geological Fanboy moment. I finally made it to the field guide covershot location. A bit nerdy I know, but I have a soft spot for hard rocks. The rocks with the “chevron” folds in the foreground are part of the Narooma Accretionary Complex and are the result of tremendous pressure which has compressed the existing layered rock into a zigzag pattern. The large lump of rock in the background is one of the Glasshouse Rocks which are composed of Narooma Chert, originally formed from deposits on the bottom of the ocean. The second photograph shows more of the Glasshouse Rocks, whilst the the third picture shows the stone kangaroo which stands guard atop the chevrons. Geology Rocks!!!! #geologicalwonders #geologicalphenomenon
