learning to love yourself is a lifelong process. it is not something you can just learn after some tragic event. it is not something you just pick up after a terrible downfall. self love is an ongoing practice. it is finding what you love most about yourself in others and spreading that same love to those who need it most. it is finding that place within you and learning where to find it when you feel a bit lost. it is remembering that your life is your life and you are enough; not only to those who love you but to yourself. it is a journey one knows no end. and the moment you realize this is the moment everything begins. the moment everything changes. and the moment you find the courage to piece yourself back together again.

A somewhat passive aggressive post just went up over on the blog. Recently, someone said to me that they were glad “I was confident anyway” despite having #psoriasis. My psoriasis is nothing to be ashamed of, nor is it something I shouldn’t be confident in. My psoriasis is part of me and something that I live with, it’s not my defining feature and it’s not something that I should be ashamed of and hide away. Sadly, so many people do feel this way though and comments like this don’t help anyone. If you would like to read my full thoughts on the situation, visit the link in bio. I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter in the comments below too // #psoriasisawareness #getyourskinout
"In terms of the beauty industry, everything needs to change – it's fake, not real, and unachievable!" My name’s Kaylin, I was born with a facial cleft which affects the right side of my face, especially my eye and my nose. I have had many operations for it, the first being when I was four months old, and the most recent was last year. I have chosen not to have any more as things are going well enough and surgery is not worth the pain and difficulties.
I first realised I looked different when I started primary school, because other people made me aware of it. It suddenly mattered to others what I looked like and they would make comments. These were just generally curious comments when I was younger, but as I got older people started to be really horrible.
When I was a child I used to go out more but received many bad comments and stares. These really got to me and I thought about them so much I started to believe some of them. There were many instances of bullying during my school years in both primary and secondary school. Once the other children said they wouldn’t play with me because I had a disease and they would catch it if they did. In those moments I would just cry and ask not to go back to school.

It’s that time of year when I first pick up a tan and I see the all of the new spots of pigment loss. In years gone past I used to really dread this time but I’ve really grown in the last 12 months. Im actually a little shocked how many new spots of vitiligo I have developed recently but I’m ok with it. This pic was taken by the hugely talented @mrelbank and it really kickstarted my journey of acceptance. Guess what I’m saying is please learn to love your so called flaws, they make us unique. ❤️
CLC MEMBER FEATURE: I'm Anastasia, a very young 32yr old mom of one. I'm an artist and beauty school dropout with a BA in Fashion Design...my appearance is my art. For the past 5yrs I've been dealing with a skin condition that no one could properly diagnose, until just recently. It started with red bumps on my neck that would grow into dry, red rings or spots, similar to ringworm but never itchy or bothersome. I was prescribed creams and pills, but nothing changed.
•
Two years later I got pregnant, making the spots so much worse. It spread to my chest, waistline, under my breasts, and armpits and grew larger, becoming sore and itchy. I started feeling like people were always staring, making me insecure. A specialist said it was a fungal infection that couldn't be treated until after my pregnancy. Once able, I saw another doctor who thought I had Eczema. And once again, none of the treatment worked. Not knowing what it was made me scared I'd give it to someone else. And because I couldn't always hide it, people would ask questions. But, how do you explain something that no one can explain to you
•
This year, I did some research, changed doctors, and found a dermatologist who did a biopsy on my skin. What I have is actually Psoriasis. Finally, it has a name, which also means proper treatment.
•
Gaining answers made me gain more confidence. I don't hide my skin anymore, even when it's at it's worse. Now I try to embrace it, joke about it and own it. If people ask about it, I'm open to discuss it. As I learn more about Psoriasis, I want to share that information cause knowledge is power and ignorance is definitely not bliss.

There is no cure for Psoriasis, just meds to make it less crazy. This is mine forever. It's not easy, it's not fun and it's not pretty, but this is life now and I gotta make it work

Left pic: TODAY, right pic: 4 months ago. #naturallyheal #psoriasis One of the game changers for me was finding an old picture of me (swipe right) - I was shocked, I simply couldn’t remember that was how I looked before psoriasis. It was very clear to me - I was keeping myself in the same place in spite of all my actions to heal the ‘incurable’. Where focus goes, energy flows. I was so focused on what my face looked like - I could have drawn out every legion to perfection with my eyes closed. So, I put that photo next to my bedside and looked at it night and day. Every morning towards the end of my meditation ‘Blessing of the Energy Centres’ by @officialdrjoedispenza I would visualise my face the same as that picture. I would visualise the photo and alongside it, feel the euphoria of healing a #skincondition that has been labelled incurable by the medical community. Within one week, I could see changes in the psoriasis on the face. This just motivated me to keep going - the excitement, the anticipation, the unknown, the empowerment - all blended into one and the picture of clear skin on my face would pop into my mind at the drop of a hat. If you can go there in the mind, you can go there in the body. Mine did.
