Danish architecture practice COBE has designed a carbon neutral science museum to be built in Lund, south Sweden. Scheduled to open in 2024, the building features a timber structure and will be heated using excess energy from a nearby neutron research facility. Hoje demos um grandioso passo para as estruturas de madeira no Brasil. A @crosslam.brasil juntamente com o Corpo de Bombeiros de São Paulo fez o teste de simulação de incêndio num módulo de CLT na escala 1:1. Tudo correu muitíssimo bem! Essa imagem é o "flash over", o exato segundo onde temos a maior temperatura atingida no módulo. Ele aconteceu aproximadamente a 30minutos de queima a aproximadamente 700 graus. Daí em diante o fogo se auto-extinguiu em mais 30 minutos, queimando apenas os itens inflamáveis dentro do módulo. A madeira permaneceu 100% intacta o tempo todo, graças à apenas 1 camada de gesso acartonado instalado nas paredes internas. Segundo os bombeiros o teste foi altamente satisfatório. Sem medo de inovar estamos no caminho certo! Architectural practice Precht has released proposals for a speculative project that combines engineered timber frame modules with a system of vertical farming and planting. Danish architecture firm 3XN has unveiled a project for the tallest timber office building in North America, to be built in Toronto. Called T3 Bayside, the 10 storey building would rise to a height of 42 metres and will use glue laminated timber beams and cross laminated timber panels. IKEA have partnered with Ikano Bostad, SPACE10 and Danish architecture practice EFFEKT to imagine a modular, mass-timber system that could help cities build affordable and sustainable mixed-use neighbourhoods. Formed of cross laminated timber (CLT) panels, flexible partitions, beams and columns, the buildings would contain urban farms, childcare facilities, shops, offices and EV charging facilities. The apartments could be adapted over time to suit inhabitant's changing needs. Mjøstårnet, the world’s tallest all-timber building, has completed in Norway. Built by timber manufacturer Moelven and reaching an unprecedented height of 84 metres, the tower is built without using steel bracing or a concrete core - which are common elements that help provide stability in timber high-rise buildings. It features 18 storeys of residential, hotel and office space, and has been clad in thermally-treated timber panels supplied by Woodify.
