TRAVELING AND STAYING GF CAN BE HARD!⁠⠀ Finding safe places to eat, educating staff, asking questions about new-to-me menus, and the list goes on.⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ Needless to say, eating at @senzaglutennyc was a much-needed breath of fresh air! Dare I say I have yet to eat at a 100% gluten-free establishment until dining with them? (hey #cbusfoodscene can we get a dedicated GF restaurant too please?)⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ Anyways, I was very lucky to be #hosted @senzaglutennyc and I have to say I was VERY impressed. Not only with their food but with their awareness of other allergies/sensitivities that may accompany those living gluten-free.⁠⠀ .⁠⠀ Their bread basket was fluffy and delicious paired with olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. As #coelicawarenessweek is almost over, I wanted to highlight one of the main issues I personally face gluten free wise that can be quite challenging and a huge anxiety trigger : eating out on holiday! Does anyone else plan their holiday destinations around where they can eat safely? Because I do. . . Our trip to Edinburgh was literally a food holiday and I knew I could find somewhere to eat because we’ve been before. . I’ve only been abroad twice as a coeliac and that was to Bretagne in France and Amsterdam. Amsterdam was super easy because I knew you could get McDonald’s IN A BUN if we were on the move, and there were so many good places and recommendations! . Our family holiday in France however, I struggled with. We were in the middle of the beautiful countryside, and had a looot of fun, but pretty much all I ate was salmon and fries when we ate out. We stayed in a lovely bunch of cottages where we could go to the supermarche and buy our own food and have barbecues or meals together, but eating out was a nightmare and it felt really isolating when everyone had amazing meals and I was having salmon and fries for the 17365478th time. . One thing I would like to add is that the Google Translate app is a LIFESAVER for helping to translate ingredients labels and menu descriptions. You literally scan it and it translates there and then. It helped me and James’ sister (who is a DF veggie) SO MUCH and saved a lot of time faffing around guessing. The GF gang on Instagram have so many good reccomendations too, and I think Instagram is such a useful tool! Gluten free at Blackpool Pleasure Beach! Okay, so first thing’s first, if you’re planning to visit for a day of thrills, you’re going to STRUGGLE to eat gluten free at the Pleasure Beach . After booking to go on Sunday, I emailed them to see what gluten free options they have, and if I could take a packed lunch into the park. . I was informed that food bought outside of the pleasure beach couldn’t be eaten on the premises, they do bag searches, and to take gluten free food in with me, I had to take a DOCTORS NOTE with me to say I required gluten free food, but would still have to leave it in a locker as I couldn’t eat it inside there. It’s a very strange policy, and I don’t agree with it at all ☹️. I was also told that here are gluten free pizzas available in the pizza restaurant in Nickelodeon Land, and apparently the Burger King does a nice side salad . So you will struggle if you don’t like pizza, and you’ll struggle even more if you have multiple intolerances. . Luckily, I managed to sneak a couple of wraps into my bra undetected but was still hungry! You can leave the park and return apparently, but we decided to go for food when we left the Pleasure Beach too. . After we left, we popped into Bentleys, which is down the street on the corner of the Velvet Coaster Wetherspoons, not far from the pleasure beach at all. They do gluten free fish and chips every day, and have dedicated gluten free friers and food is cooked to order. I definitely reccomend leaving the park to go there if you are visiting this summer! #coeliacsloth

Spotted these NEW gluten free and dairy free ice cream cones in Marks and Spencer for £2.50. Has anyone tried them? I didn’t buy them but it’s nice to have an alternative to Cornetto! They’re also suitable for vegans! Would you like to see gluten free versions of cornettos at your local ice cream van? How did everyone spend their Bank Holiday Monday? I finally found the @scharglutenfreeuk Jaffa cakes in my local Asda and couldn’t resist making a milkshake with them! it was SOO GOOD! And soo easy to make Want the recipe? Have a look below . .
