I came across this tweet by one of our incredible black queen’s — Myleik Teele on the 4th December 2017. I remember because I took a screenshot of it and have kept it on my phone ever since. This tweet resonated so much with me as it’s one of my mantras — if not the most important code I live by which effects everything else surrounding my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many people can’t make sense of my work ethic, and my response as to why and how relates to this tweet. I’m young, my body can handle a lot more now than it will in the future - there will come a time where my body won’t be able to handle all the things I am doing, and I am limited in what I can do. There will come a time when I start raising a family and my responsibilities shift but, until then, I want to harness my youth. Rather than living by societal standards of how to spend my youth — carefree, irresponsible and negligent with far more focus on “fun” than work. I say no. Now is the time for me to build. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is also why I advocate working as much as you can especially whilst studying because you don’t have to pay any tax, and being a student is the only time in your life you’ll have soooooo much free time. Use it wisely and save every penny you make. Save your student finance, and live on a minimum. Then when you graduate, you have a pile of money to go full stream ahead on your dreams. You don’t have to come out of university broke, but with a substantial amount of savings if you apply yourself correctly. I would implore anyone who is going to university to think about this.

I was about 19 on the the left. And just started lifting weights after doing cardio with the occasional ab workout at home for a couple of weeks. Not long after this picture was taken, I quite. Because I wasn’t seeing the results I was craving.
It’s so easy to get discouraged when things don’t go to plan. .

I even gained a few kilos after.
It wasn’t till may last year that I started going back to the gym 4-5 times a week.

Trust me it isn’t easy posting before photos (hence why you guys haven’t seen any). Growing up self conscious can hit kids/teens pretty hard, so I feel as though seeing what’s possible can give some hope to those struggling with low self esteem now.

April monthly layout in my bullet journal. This month has been a mixed bag so far - I've been loving all the extra light since the clocks changed and have found myself in a good mood more often than not. But alongside that, I've found my structure slipping, tasks getting left and progress stalling. There is a small part of me wondering if there is an element of self-sabotage in here somewhere, little shifts designed to keep me in my safe zone. So, over this weekend, I'll be spending some time looking at where I am and where I'd like to be towards the end of the month. Gentle, achievable goals that give me some direction for the next two weeks. I chatted with a client today about setting goals that we have control over - the difference between "Get to 600 followers" and "Post to Instagram three times a week". It makes it much easier to hold yourself accountable because the outcome solely depends on you and not on the whims of other people. So that will be my focus - things that I myself can do and feel good about once they're ticked off my list and that I can't try to wriggle myself out of!
