“To the Light” • I just want to preface this post by saying that with so much on my plate right now including various clubs and so much work from college, I will have to leave Instagram. I just can’t keep up with the responsibilities and commitment that this requires. So with this post, I will conclude my photography career. It was an incredible experience and I’m so thankful for all the people that I’ve met through this platform. You’ve enriched my lives and I thank all of you for being in my life. Just like this post says, I’m leaving behind the burdens of Instagram and moving on to focus more on school. • This is the Pere Lachesis, one of the most famous cemeteries in Paris. Famous figures including Oscar Wilde, Chopin, and Delacroix are buried here. Being in a graveyard can be creepy, especially when the day was also cloudy and gloomy. Crowd were cawing, it was cold, and it was starting to get dark. However, I live for these unique experiences and walking through was strangely comforting for me. I felt at peace and very relaxed even though the environment would have said otherwise. • Commentary: I wanted to recreate my emotions at the graveyard. While it was cold and dark and spooky like the picture shows, I also felt a strange tranquility, comfort and warmth, just like the light. At places of ending are new beginnings and even in the darkest places, there is always hope. I’ve been really dark places in my life. Dark enough to never see the light. Dark enough to think that there’s no light. But I want to tell you that even when you think there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, there always is. It may be faint in all of the darkness, but it’s there. And it’s waiting for you to find it. You just have to keep persevering and go “To the Light”. . I used the road as a leading line out to the subject. I shot low angle to really extract the details from the foreground. I used symmetry to correctly frame the shot. I used the gravestones as borders and more lines to the subject. . . . . . . . . . . . April fools! If you really thought I was going to quit what I love, you don’t know what kind of person I am. I always find a way to make it work.
