Hit my 2nd day hair (which I wore straight yesterday) with a little @witchiloveyourhair this morning and quick diffused for about 2 minutes just to get some messy soft waves going. Then I twisted two sections of the top back and to the side for a little bit of a different relaxed look. . . Options are good.

DAY 5 REFRESH If you’ve been watching my stories over the past few days you’d know that I wasn’t refreshing *at all* and my curls could even pass as nak’d ☺️(even though I used a cream and a mousse on my Monday wash day). My curls were very stretched out and slightly over moisturized. Well that over moisturization came in handy! My hair this morning didn’t feel dry at all and I was fairly confident that I could pull of a refresh this morning if I did a full re-wet. I just needed to balance things out So I made sure to use products that had **Hydrolyzed Protein** because of what I recently learned! And what do you know!!! My day 5 hair is passable as day 2 hair Which is great news since I have to go get my passport photo taken✌ . . . . . . I was lucky enough to study sign language in college under a deaf professor, and then did some work with an international Deaf community and was given a sign name at that time. I know a lot of talk has been going around about inclusive media, and I definitely try to present a mixture of visual and audio media, as I've had people reach out who are hard of hearing, dyslexic, suffer from vertigo, among other things. I'm sorry if my stories or posts have been inaccessible, and I always give an earnest effort in my DMs. I try to meet people where they are at. I love ASL and have been honored by the Deaf community's inclusivity of me. There is so much joy, expression, poetry, and mischief in ASL and hope this is of some amusement or help to any deaf/HoH curlies out there. My professor always told me I had a strong "accent," so I hope my rusty signing isn't too Chicagoan for you. ➰Refresh Winning Combo➰ . . I refreshed my hair this morning (I hadn't protected it AND and I had it up in a claw clip). I truly think I've stumbled upon a winning refresh combo. I've used it before and shared in my stories, but I have to make it feed official! . . Drumroll Please . . @lusbrands wavy styler and @ecoslay orange marmalade gel! These two seem to give me the best day 2 and 3 curls and waves ever! Soft and my hair feels product free. . . ☀️Process: . . 1️⃣Begin with LUS (I used 3 pumps but you might need less or more depending upon your hair) and I emulsify with water in my hands. . . 2️⃣Flip hair to the side and glaze over hair. Gentle praying hands and continue to glaze over. Flip to other side and repeat process. Hair should be lightly damp at this point. Underlayer may be dry. . . 3️⃣Use the Ecoslay OM ( I do about 2 pumps) and emulsify with water in your hands. You want this thinned out. Glaze and gentle praying hands over each side of hair. Again, hair should remain just damp, not overly wet. . . 4️⃣Hit with the diffuser for 10 minutes or so. Pixie diffuse for maximum definition. . . That's it! Easy peasy! By far my favorite refresh right now. Day 2 hair not so bad after I brushed out the ends and scrunched in some @edensgardenoils argon oil before bed. . . ☀️ I refreshed this morning with a little lavender water and a quarter of @ogx_beauty coconut curls moisture mousse. I diffused for a couple of minutes, sotc with a drop of @righteousrootsoils, clipped back the top and done. . . I know that oils are a hot point of contention in the curly world, but I say use them if they work for you. And these 2 oils work wonders for my dry tired hair. . . To each his own, yo.

2️⃣ Day 2 is holding up despite being shoved into a hat at the pool yesterday, withstanding super high temperatures for 3 hours, and getting rained on this morning. Our poor hair...how does it ever survive this crazy weather? . . All I used to refresh was a little water via my flairosol, a nickel of @boucleme Curl Cream and a quick diffuse. I also flipped my part. . . I think being out in the intense heat yesterday made my hair feel dry by the end of the day, so I wanted to add some moisture. It’s surviving so far. . . And yes, I’m wearing the same polka dot dress that I wore to church yesterday (and photographed my hair in before we left). That’s just how I roll.

It’s a quick pinned-back bangs half updo for this Monday. . . I often wear the top of my hair pinned back when it’s straighter like this. It’s hard for me to retain the mad volume I like when it’s straighter if I don’t pin it. ‍♀️ Possibly because I’m constantly touching it? Or because I barely use any product on my straighter days? Or because my hair just can’t support volume when it’s silky and straight? . . What do you girls with straighter hair do to keep crown volume turned up Teach me!!

...⁣ ⁣ Here is how I use a brush to refresh for tangle free voluminous hair!!!⁣ ⁣ I made this video a couple weeks ago and didn’t post it because I forgot an important step. I use Lus Styler for wavy hair before I use the gel. I think the gel works fine on its own but the LUS really does make a difference. No worries though I posted a detailed video in my highlights where I talk you through the steps that I take for this refresh and use both the LUS and Bouncecurl Light Creme Gel. Those two products are my favorite to refresh with. ⁣After I brush my hair I do a @marisascurls type of refresh ☺️ ⁣ I know Using a brush is not CGM approved especially not on dry hair. I prefer to brush my hair while it’s dry especially if I have a good brush. I was sent this brush from @behairfulbrush and I am absolutely obsessed with it. It is very gentle but effective in getting out tangles. I will talk about this brush more in a future post ⁣ Tangles have plagued my life ever since I stopped using silicones. I love this refresh because it really frees my hair and I love the look it gives me. It’s a personal preference and it might not work for all Curl patterns. If you struggle with tangles and don’t mind some fluff give it a go and let me know ⁣ ⁣ ⁣
