On our way to Manchester with both kids (only left the house 90 minutes later than planned ) and spending this time reflecting on being a mum of two - 3 years and 7 weeks. Which somehow led to a conversation about the Duchess of Sussex and how I’m feeling a bit sad for her or maybe a better word is frustrated for her. New mum to new mum. She’s just had a baby. Not slept in at least 3 days plus labour time. Then with her 3 day old newborn is asked to get made up, put on a fancy dress, wear high heels - HIGH HEELS! my swollen ankles wouldn’t let me wear my boots let alone a pair of stilettos! Walk castle size rooms with a sore vag in her STILETTOS, smile and answer the most absurd questions - what’s he like? Is he a good baby? Is he sleeping? All 3 of these questions get my back up. First off, you don’t know your baby in the first few days they themselves are a confused mess of first feeds and first poo’s. Plus whoever they present themselves to be on day 2 of earth side living will not be the same little person come 6 months. Secondly, is he good?!?! What does that mean? If not good then by default bad? Can a newborn even be bad? And thirdly, Sleep. Sleep. Sleep. The biggest most exhausted question of them all. Newborns only sleep and never sleep. All you mums get what I mean! What’s your view on #babysussex and #dukeandduchessofsussex ? I personally don’t need to know all the details. I was happy to hear the happy news that #babyarchie arrived safely but I personally don’t need the fan fair.
