Good morning everyone! ☀️ Hope you are all well... I’ve been a little absent from insta this week as I’ve been rolling around like a headless chicken trying to get all sorted for my holiday tomorrow . Anywayyyy, I wanted to update you all on the small tweaks to my chair which we made last week ✅. Previously I spoke about the static shocks I’ve been getting and also how I keep falling out of my new chair. We decided to put slightly larger casters (front wheels) on, only moving up an inch - to make it easier to tackle those TINY and I mean TINY cracks I kept getting caught on. We also switched the push rims to #surgelt . These are really impressive as they have a rubber strip to help improve traction and also have a better oval type shape to grasp. I’ve only been using these for around a week now and already I can feel a massive difference in my ability. I have even learnt how to bunny hop which has always been on my wheelchair bucket list . These rims thankfully are really slim and do not add any width to the chair too. So far so good - we are just waiting on a slightly larger foot plate to tackle my slightly large and over sized feet . I can’t wait!! Shoutout to @dukes106 and @hirst4642 for advising me and implementing these changes. Since these guys have got involved with me, my life has literally transformed. I know that sounds dramatic- but you don’t understand the level of freedom I’ve been given, a level of independence that I almost forgot I had in me. All of this is due to these guys, who know the ins and outs of wheelchairs and who were kind enough to really listen to my struggles and get me on the right track♿️. I’ve got a busy day today - as I am up at 2am tomorrow for my holidays! Morning everyone ☀️ I have been on my own for a few days as my partner is working away and I always find myself lost in my own thoughts when I have time on my own. I guess it’s good to spend time apart to appreciate your other half when they aren’t there - but it still doesn’t stop me from missing him . Anyway, being at home on my own I tend to find myself overthinking and reminiscing to what life was like before all of this. The girl on the left is a somewhat skinnier, (maybe a bit too skinny) version of myself. The right is a chunkier and sat down version of me who has found a purpose and a sense of fulfilment from life ✨. I always look at my body now and beat myself up about it’s changes. I was always tall, skinny, fit and active, and now I feel like a bit of a frumpy lump . I just need to focus my efforts into the right channels as my body will never be the same whilst I’m in a wheelchair. Everyone is ALWAYS going to feel pain at some point in their life. No matter how big or small, change and/or suffering always occurs. I guess it’s just learning to appreciate change - even if it isn’t the best situation, and take positives from it all. Being positive isn’t easy by any means, but having drive, determination and a goal in life brings a huge sense of satisfaction ☺️. I now wake up every day with a little bit of fire in my belly to get on with my day, no matter what obstacles are in my way. Whatever you do today, make sure you don’t dwell on the things you don’t like, and appreciate the things you do and are good at. Remember that 9/10 you can ALWAYS be in a worse position than you currently are. I’m off to finish cleaning my fridge out, then two buses to hydro before half a mile wheel to physio ‍♀️. @luke_molyneux_ has signed for @hartlepoolunited . This comes after he played in 16 of their fixtures last season, whilst on loan from #SAFC. Morning everyone. ✨ Hope you’re all having a lovely weekend! Tomorrow marks a year since I was discharged from hospital . If you’ve followed me for a while you know I tend to reflect on things a lot, however this 5 month stint in hospital really is a bit of a blur . Being in the same room for that amount of time, with the same routine day in day out almost drove me to the brink of insanity. I wasn’t living a ‘normal’ life, and I certainly wasn’t feeling myself. Despite the fact that I couldn’t walk, this environment seemed to make things a lot worse. Looking back over the past year it’s crazy to think how much my life has turned around. I am now happily settled in my new home, I have regular hydrotherapy‍♀️ with my private neuro physio and most of all, I am feeling better than ever within myself I guess being in hospital was one of the worst parts of my life. Being left with your own thoughts and emotions, secluded from the outside world for that long period of time really does make me appreciate everything and all of the opportunities I have now. This weekend I’m off to a christening with all my friends and a bit of shopping too .
