Did you know 95% of your body’s serotonin is stored in your gut? Your gut is literally your second brain! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ This means if your microbiome is out of whack, so is your mood. ⁣It’s so important to take care of this.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ A little over a year ago I was finally fed up with constantly feeling bloated, in a funk, and always having a belly ache.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ While I can’t say what will work for every single person and am not a doctor, I’ve made a list of some of the things that helped *me personally*:⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Low FODMAP diet: if you’re not familiar with this, google it! The point of this is to eliminate aggravating foods, and slowly reintroduce them one by one after 30-60 days, to see how your body reacts to them. I feel like this was beneficial for me to “reset” my gut and give it some time to heal.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣*talk to your doctor before doing this.⁣ ⁣ Glutamine powder: Has been shown to help repair the lining of the gut and maintains barrier between the inside of your intestines and the rest of your body. Aka prevents harmful bacteria and toxins from moving out of your intestines into the rest of your body. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Added bonus: helps muscle recovery as well!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Probiotics: Help balance the friendly bacteria in your digestive system. There’s good bacteria, and there’s bad bacteria. Probiotics help to keep the good ones alive.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Opti Greens: Game changer for me. I definitely do not get enough veggies in my diet. Not only are the greens good for your overall health, but they have added probiotics and digestive enzymes to really take care of my gut and make sure my body is properly breaking down what I consume.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Less processed foods, more whole foods: The more food you eat that come from the earth, the better off you’ll be! Our bodies weren’t made to constantly have artificial, processed, junk foods.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Apple cider vinegar/ginger: There really aren’t any concrete studies showing that apple cider vinegar helps digestion, but I’ve noticed a positive difference from it.⁣⁣ Always dilute with water. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Now that my gut is healed, there’s not much that bothers me honestly

let’s talk about CONFIDENCE✨ ⠀ a couple weeks ago, I posted about my journey with adult acne, and it had the best response of any blog post to date (ps thank you love you all for that - link in bio ICYMI) and I’ve been thinking about why… ⠀ one obvious reason is that adult acne is unfortunately becoming increasingly common, but it also highlights just how debilitating acne can be to a person’s self confidence (if you’ve suffered with acne I’m sure you know the feeling of not wanting anyone to look at you) ⠀ whether its acne or something else, not feeling your best physically can really take a toll on your self confidence, which has ripple effects to all areas of your life, as it affects how you show up in the world ⠀ I’ve been loving listening to @justinanderson’s podcast where he chats with his hair clients about what makes them feel beautiful, and how ‘beauty’ isn’t necessarily vain - when you FEEL beautiful & feel good about yourself, you’re able to show up in the world as your best, most authentic, confident self ⠀ it’s not about what other people think, it’s about how YOU feel about yourself ⠀ for me, healing my skin was huge in restoring my confidence, and so is keeping my body physically fit & healthy. when I’m caring for myself well with good nutrition, staying active, and getting enough sleep, I feel the most like true myself, and it gives me the confidence to really show up in the world and go after what I want ⠀ can you guys relate? what makes you feel the most beautiful and confident? ⠀ side note - I do think confidence is still mostly an inside job (if you truly don’t like yourself, getting a 6 pack won’t change that, i promise)

I’ll admit it..I’m an avid label reader When I first started transitioning from highly processed foods to a healthier lifestyle, all I did was switch from Oreos to organic Oreos I just read the numbers, calories, amount of sugar, fats etc. but then I had to go under an EXTREMELY restrictive diet (temporarily) called the Low Fodmap, under the supervision of a nutritionist. I had to read every ingredient and make sure there wasn’t anything I couldn’t have, and wow how much I found shocked me I found reading the front label, you know, the part where all of the marketing is put in? Wasn’t enough because even though the package would say “all natural” “no preservatives” no antibiotics” or even organic, it did not mean it was healthy‍♀️ I would find a lot of “healthy” products still contained additives like: • •Soy lecithin - which in the US is usually processed with soy containing damaging GMOs and has been shown to cause digestive upsets (I’m good on more stomach aches, thank you very much) •Hydrogenated oils - oils whose chemical structure has been altered to increase shelf life and also your trans fats and cholesterol • Nitrates - usually found in processed meats to increase shelf life and risk of stomach cancer It may not seem like a big deal looking at it from a birds eye view, but we eat this stuff everyday. A little today, a little tomorrow, what’s the big deal‍♀️ It all starts to add up everyday and BAM you start to develop allergies and colds, your immune system slows down, you start to notice that little belly fat that just won’t go away. For as sick as I’ve been, the only thing I want to put in my body right now one ingredient foods (aka fruits, veggies, meats) or something with a label I can understand and very minimal

One of the things I constantly hammer home with all my coaching clients is this... ⬇️⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Embrace the journey. Trust the process. Shift your lifestyle. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ I’ve tried the fad diets and cool new training programs (I’m sure you have as well) in the past, and there’s nothing inherently wrong with them...⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ It’s just that these are usually TEMPORARY fixes to a problem that needs a PERMANENT solution. ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ The challenges that make us become overweight cannot be solved by diet trends like, “Never eat carbs again” or “Only eat beans and nuts for the rest of your life”... ⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ You’re probably overweight because you...⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ Are consistently overeating.
