Just in case some weighted double unders show up this weekend at the CrossFit Games here are some Rx Method points of Perfomance to help you Athletes tackle this part of the work out with purpose and efficiency.
1. Use a full handle length grip with minimal grip pressure. Avoid death grip.
2. Allow the wrists to turnover to avoid blowing up forearms.
3. Keep hands positioned off front of hips. Use peripheral view to spot hand placement near the body.
4. Maintain elbows bent and back for controlled rotations.
5. Bound higher than normal dubs to allow for slower rotations for sets of 50 reps or higher.
6. Bound lower for increased speed if reps are less than 50.
7. Make light ground contact with your rope to reduce friction and drag.
The Rx strategy with weighted dubs is to go for sustained, unbroken sets and not allow the jump rope to tax shoulders, arms and grip. If you’ve been training with Zeus, Hades or Kronos then the weighted handle Rogue rope should feel like a walk in the park. Allow the heavy handles to anchor and help rotate the rope.
