Using only 3g on a 70ml teapot brings out the brighter and more subtle notes of this tea! Honestly I really prefer different kinds of non-puerh Heicha to Shou Pu as they are normally more balanced and actually less-fermented! The process is more traditional and it feels just more right as far I understood the company I got these samples from, reactivated an abandoned tea garden to produce several traditional Anhua teas: Besides this Fu Cha (FuZhuanCha 茯磚茶) they also produce Tianjian and Qian Liang Cha. Pinewood is used to dry these teas, so some of its characteristic flavors comes from that! The tea has a very calming influence on me and I stayed really relaxed even though it started to heavily rain during my session on the balcony! . Holy cow dung! (pun intended) This heicha from 1998 made my day!  I had not expected it to be so rich, round and deep. Orange-red liquor, balanced mouthfeel and a comforting Qi. And some zing under the hood. Actually, after having sipped a few satisfying cups and feeling a pleasant warmth permeating the cells of my body, I caught myself thinking for a second that if I had to suddenly escape to a secluded place… having a brick of this with me as the only tea, I would be quite ok : ) (On a side note, this brick weights 1.8 kg :) Thanks to @chawangshop for stocking such beautiful heicha at an affordable price. 1998 Hunan Dongting “9101”Qing Zhuan, a classic brick distributed from Linxiang city to Mongolia, Russia and so on. A fantastic introduction into the world of Liu Bao teas yesterday. Hosted by Olivier Nuttens from L’Heure Bleue in Brussels, in the span of about 4,5 hours, we drank endless infusions of 9 different liu bao teas between 2010 to 1950 • I only tasted a liu bao once before, which was again very different from the ones tasted yesterday. So far liu bao cha seems like a very interesting corner of the tea world worth exploring more. • My favourites were a 1970 & 1960, both very lightly fermented teas. They were however, a little outside of my current budget to buy for home drinking..... At Phoenix Tea today and the stone Shi Piao teapot came out for a delicious and sweet, 2013, Golden Flower sprinkled, Cha Yu Lian Hunan Heicha or Dark Tea. Golden Flower or Jin Hua is naturally occurring microflora that only is found on Heicha from Hunan. There are several grades of this type of tea and usually only the best raw material is purposely not pressed to tightly to facilitate its growth. The Golden Flower appears as tiny yellow dots spread throughout the tea. Other Dark Teas also benefit from the post fermentation brought about by naturally occurring microbes but only Golden Flower is visible on the finished tea. Many believe Jin Hua has many health benefits.
