Была арестована ее близкая подруга Анна Эскью, которую обвиняли в близких отношениях с королевой на почве ереси. ⠀ Женщину жестоко пытали, но показаний, порочащих Парр, добиться так и не удалось. 16 июля 1546 г. Она была сожжена на костре. ⠀ Вскоре после казни Анны Аскью королевская пара сидела в своем обычном положении - больная нога короля лежала на коленях Парр. Екатерина меняла повязки и завела свои речи о религии. В тот момент Генрих VIII был в более раздражительном настроении, чем обычно. Состояние его изъязвленной ноги ухудшилось, как и головные боли. ⠀ Катарина совершила ошибку, вовлекая короля в богословский дискурс, когда он был нездоров и находился под влиянием своих консервативных придворных. Это почти стоило ей жизни. .
