Day 6 of #igquiltfest kindly hosted by @amyscreativeside — favorite scrappy quilt! This was my first finish of 2018, my first time doing EPP, and the first time I didn’t follow any pattern. Also, before I was on IG and knew to take square photos. All the hexies were made from bandanas my dog got at the groomers over the past 5 years. Yay, it’s Sunday night so it’s also time for feet up, cosy telly, and #sipteaandepp with @mollyandmama and @stitchingnotes ! My pics today are my current favourite #mistletoequilt block (I especially love the blue fabric with the kooky lime green roses and black dots- it’s from a 1950’s housecoat I found at my local op-shop), and then swipe to see my lame homemade finger protector...yes, it’s a bandaid. A big thankyou to Lauren of @mollyandmama and Larisa of @stitchingnotes for all the great tipps and tricks and helpful videos by #sipteaandepp . Handstitching is such relaxing handwork, I love every step of it. First to cut the fabric, especcially when there is the possibility to fussy cut. Than basting, where I prefer the most thread basting clockwise without stitching through the paper. Joining the hexies to flowers is my favourite, sometimes I make coasters of a sandwich of 2 hexagon flowers with felt or Thermolam in the middle or I appliqué them ...there are so many lovely possibilities. Well, I haven't been sewing #hexiehollyhocks at all again lately. I could whine about all the reasons why, but that's boring. I have been basting tiny 3/16" hexies at least an hour a day, though. I've finished basting 8/30 blocks and some joining bits, so that puts me at about 1450/5573 pieces, or just over a quarter done!
