I read that a craving lasts around 10 minutes at a time...so distracting your mind for 10 minutes, doing something different, getting outside for a walk, anything different, helps get past that gnarly 10 minute desire to drink.
Despite not drinking for 47 days now I find there are still times I could give in to temptation. However focusing on why I don’t drink helps centre me, get re-focused & get past the shitty craving so I can tick off another day sober ✔️ ✔️✔️

I celebrated three years, three months, three days, the other day!
My best friend was here for a short time & we spent as much time as possible outdoors, filling our bellies with our favorite foods, kombucha & tea We laughed so hard we cried, actually cried, practiced yoga, hiked, meditated ♀️ spoke about our lives since we last saw each other in person (exactly a year ago when we backpacked Utah!) I’ve never known a friendship like the one we share. The universe undoubtably brought us together holds us together at times completely out of our control & our common bond of recovery has been the bedrock of a sisterhood neither of us has had in our past ✨ #giftsofsobriety
A step by step guide on how to stay sober this holiday weekend:
1. Do not pick up the first drink.
2. Drink anything other than alcohol. (Soda h20, @redbull & just plain ol h20 are personal faves, but do you boo)
B. Reach out. Use your resources! Talk to a friend. Talk to me. ♀️ Talk to your dog. Talk to the hand, jk...
5. DO NOT PICK UP THE FIRST DRINK!
If you are out with friends & feel triggered...leave. It does not matter what they think.
What matters, is, your recovery. If you are not at a point, or maybe you will never be at a point to participate in certain activities - that is too!!! The bottom line is YOUR recovery is THE most important to your life. You have to treat it as such! (Please note- I emphasized your. You do not have to explain, defend, define it to anyone.) Sober does not mean boring. There are absolutely no limits in your life! ✨

It was really late, like probably 3am.
The caption on this photo said "work isn't going to be fun tomorrow".
Didn't eat.
I don't remember much about that night.
I look super uncomfortable.
It was horrendous to work the next day.
Anxiety ridden.
Right pic.
On my own.
Chilled.
Saw the sights.
Ate great food.
Watched a show.
No anxiety.
8 hours sleep.
Felt fresh the next day.
Remembered everything.
Productive day at work.
Happy.
I had a waaaaay better time sober.
