When you truly live off grid and love living the way our ancestors lived , Summer isn’t always about gardening and pretty flowers; the necessities are still in constant demand ! In order for us to have hot water I need to fire up our old wood cookstove to heat water which will go into our water tank and give us hot water for dishes and bathing ! Since the cookstove is hot I never let it go to waist . That means : time to cook and bake !! We do not have modern refrigeration so everything is either canned or fermented or dried or meant to be eaten within a couple of days . Although the gardens call me ( which I do tend to) , there are days that my old fashion wood cook stove beckons and as you see it is bursting with love ! This life I will always live until my last breath .... it’s hard work and time consuming ... however the joy I receive from growing my own foods and cooking them over fire connects me to the ways of life which adorn my soul ! Brewing cups of home grown lemons mixed with a little honey today. It’s time to be present to the simple elements we instinctively look for comfort when the obligatory winter cold visits. The hardest part about the need to rest is first recognising the fact — letting go of the mental to do list, calming the mind. Once this is sorted, the season accepted, there always appears many small blessings to be experienced... It is simply allowing the minutes to tick by without feeling stressed. Observing the water slowly swirl in the cup, extracting goodness from a home grown lemon, mixed with honey from a friend’s own hive (thank you @sallyoehm). It is bringing a mountain of linen and feather quilts to the lounge, staying close to the wood fire. Listening to the wind, and to the content purring of my cat (who believes, of course, that I’ve prepared this cosy place just for her)... So for me today, rather than dwelling on what might be in the future, I’m grateful for these simple elements that exist now in the present. ✨

Anak-anak masuk sekolah rumah langsung sepi... Waktunya beberes dapur nih. Trolley-ku sekarang dihiasi perlengkapan bikin kopinya Bapak, tapi sampai sekarang aku sendiri malah belum bisa bikin kopi hehe. Suami bikin sendiri, ngopi sendiri, nongkrong sendiri. Yaabis aku belum suka ngopi, pokoknya tetep minuman aku rebusan teh rempah atau bandrek hehehe. Para pecinta kopi, pengen juga kadang bisa ngerasain enaknya ngopi, apa tipsnya?
