Californian cool goes on a rendezvous with Parisian elegance: Los Angeles-based @bellsandwhistlesdesign designed the charming interior of @lejeuneetjolie, a restaurant in the seaside town Carlsbad. The studio's principals Barbara Rourke and Jason St. John started with the idea of the perfect place for a date night, composing a space defined by curved lines, ie the ending of the seating benches or the lines of the mosaic flooring, and a palette of pastel hues including blush velvets, sage joinery and peach wall patterns in the bathroom. by @lilyglass

Burger-Boheme: For the latest @pnyburger branch of bun-and-patty enthusiast @rudyguenaire, Belgian architect @bernard_dubois came up with this très chic concept inspired by post-modernism and 80s design. Restricted by the narrow corridor of the building, Bernard instilled a dramatic perspective by installing wooden room dividers which separate the tables and create round openings channeling the facade of Hans Hollein's Retti Candle shop, built in the 60s in Vienna. By adding large wall mirrors behind the seating benches, the whole room is continued in eternity and feels more spacious. Picking up on the shape of the openings are also the three-legged dining chairs which are a bespoke design developed by Bernard for the restaurant. So tasty! by @romainlaprade via @dessellepartners

Sweet concrete: Candy colours liven up the grey fitout of @eatdarlingeat, a patisserie in Hong Kong designed by @ncdesignandarchitecture. Inspired by the experimental curiosity of Postmodernism, the team commissioned bespoke stools based on doughnuts and jelly, curved benches resembling the slice of a cake and an abstract check-in counter. Mixing smooth surfaces like the concrete with reflecting or shiny materials such as the yellow glass which separates the different seating areas, the space is beaming with a fun vibrancy. by @nic.gaunt

Charming contrasts: In St Petersburg, local interiors studio @hotels_only designed the @cakeandbreakfast cafe, balancing smooth concrete with pops of colour and custom-made metal constructions. The latter function as eyecatching room dividers or wall decoration, adding geometric shapes to the interior. With the grey terrazzo benches in one of the dining rooms, the team introduces another type of surface which make the space feel more vibrant.

Marigold in Melbourne: Australian interior architecture practice @studiotate opted for a wonderful warm yellow backdrop to set the mood in the new @workshopbros_southbank brasserie. Located in a modern building with eight meter high ceilings, the team used wooden cladding for walls and ceiling to transform the space into a visually compelling room. The look is a nod to classic New York City restaurants, a source of inspiration that also informed the choice of the glass sphere wall lights and pendants. A well balanced mix of natural materials brings in a variety of sensual experiences, from the curved timber mouldings around the coffee counter to the leather upholstery of the seating and the granite of the counter along the window. by @felix_forest

Tasty! Adelaide-based @studio_gram brings an earthy colour scheme of muted yellows, reds and terracotta hues to Sydney Harbour, where recently opened eatery @chicabonita_sydney serves Mexican-style food and drinks. The studio's team was inspired by Adobe buildings, which are made with mudbricks, as well as the historic architecture from the Baja Peninsula. These references not only inform the warm colour palette and the material mix of tiles, velvets and tan leather, but also extend to the architectural details: little steps appear throughout, for example in the ends of the seating benches, as decorative wall detail or functional shelving. by @tobypeet

Drama in the restrooms: For the @pur_barcelona restaurant in the Catalan capital, studio @lagranja_design came up with a bold scheme for an area which too often is only an afterthought. Choosing bold red tubular steel, white marble and brass taps, they've induced glamorous to a very utilitarian space. Paper artist @littlerayofsunflower designed the fun wallpaper motives in collaboration with @ingridpicanyolstudio, inspired by the dishes cooked up by chef @nandujubany_oficial. Upstairs in the dining area, the design team opted for a more neutral colour and material palette so that the focus of attention becomes the open kitchen. by @salvalopez
