#ihgcelebrateservice Elise, Holiday Inn Parramatta, Australia "One day we noticed an elderly guest, Val, pushing her wheelchair through our hotel lobby whilst trying to walk with a pair of crutches. It turned out that she was heading to her daughter’s wedding when the wheelchair got a flat tyre – and she wasn't sure what to do. With no time or means to get the wheelchair fixed, our front office manager Elise offered the hotel wheelchair for the time being, which was happily accepted, and off Val went to the big day.
As the wedding party set off, Elise decided to take the wheelchair to a nearby repair shop, and quietly placed it back in the guest’s room with a card and a ribbon on top. Our guest was so happy and grateful for this small act of kindness that she left a big box of chocolates and a thank you card to show her appreciation. For our team, showing we care no matter what is simply who we are." #truehospitality #LifeAtIHG
In 10 days, we'll be marking IHG's 10th annual Celebrate Service Week. It's a week dedicated to recognising our hotel colleagues, who bring True Hospitality to life for our guests and communities every day. Here’s just one example.
Jacquetta, Candlewood Suites Beaumont, Texas US: “It is true that the most troublesome times can be uplifted by people who are caring and dependable. Candlewood Suites Beaumont is a big part of the local community, and when Hurricane Harvey hit, it was a testing time for everyone.
Our hotel was full to the brim with guests, evacuees and rescue services. For a while, just a handful of our team ran every department, and when others were able, they returned ready to lend a helping hand, despite losing homes and belongings themselves. Many of the team worked 32 days straight to make sure everybody was taken care of, and we went out into the most devasted part of the community with dinners made in our kitchens. It’s amazing what can be achieved when people pull together.
We made it through that first week with no running water, but great attitudes and dedication.”
