Yay!! Weekends here!! We wait for weekends. Like literally. Weekends we meet up with friends, their kids, our kids, good food, beer and Scotch, music and conversations, a good house party. Our friend circle is such that we booze party chill at each other's place mostly. So lot of you ask me that how am I so comfortable having beer or for that matter Scotch infront of my daughter. Well I and Ankit have a pact that we will never hide anything from Prisha. So whenever she asks that what are we having we tell her that it's Mummas drink which is not meant for kids and thankfully she understands. We also give her a glass of tang or Appy or nimbu Paani..so that she too feels that she is in a party having a good time.. So ya we are handling this whole booze matter like this. I wish I had a better photo for what I am going to write BUT BEFORE THAT here's a background INCIDENT One of my friends delivered a beautiful baby last year. The weight was absolutely normal. She spent few weeks in in-laws and few at her parents place like most of you did . Issue- She faced hell of a time to argue with old school thought that a BABY NEEDS TO HAVE FORMULA MILK no matter what! Even though mother's shirts were getting wet with excessive lactation She insisted strongly to breastfeed exclusively as she had been lactating good. Doctors found no need for formula But they wanted a chubby plump kid And since kid cries after every hour and two, it means the tummy is not getting filled? . Tell me about any less than a month old baby who doesn't cry even after feeding!! . But "very knowledgeable and experienced" people in the house intervened forcibly and made the baby have formula milk whenver got the chance If this is not an EXPLOITATION of physically and emotionally weak mother, then, what? Did they know about burping techniques? No! But somehow they magically knew that baby is still hungry The baby eventually got gastric problems according to doctors (not one paed infact three) because overfeeding of un-necessary top up feed Who had to handle the colic baby? Mother , ofcourse. No "we know it all" people were not up all night to take care of her It's mothers choice according to her wish and doctor's advice what she decides that's best for thw baby. Breastmilk or formula We instamommies are very much aware of breastmilk benefits It's some others who need to know this Plus mommies, don't let others decide on baby's feed. It's nothing less than an invasion. It's your choice whether you want to feed for 2 months or 2 years. Please do not put your foot down under pressure from on such issues. Consult a lactation expert or paed . And if you have also faced such situation, no one is judging you because no one knows what pressure you were in.
