We received this message from a Sacramento Police Officer and wanted to share it with you. “Thank you, Elk Grove PD, for all that you have done. Your professionalism, compassion, and gratitude in this time of sorrow are truly exemplary. I have been standing by with Tara the past couple of evenings in your City. To say that I have been impressed with the citizens and the Elk Grove PD officers, I have been fortunate to meet, would be an understatement. Words cannot express what I have felt while standing by with Officer O'Sullivan. Elk Grove PD officers have been stopping by, bringing food, making sure we have coffee and leaving contact info for anything we may need throughout our shifts. Throughout the shift, Elk Grove PD officers were in and out of the surrounding parking lots, checking in and spending time outside. We appreciated every second they were around. I have never felt so welcomed and appreciated by such a grateful community. Restaurant owners stopped in and brought fresh, hot food and expressed their condolences. Several residents from the immediate and surrounding area stopped in regularly, bringing flowers and gifts to leave for Officer Sullivan. The residents showed genuine compassion that I could never express or duplicate in words. Several shed tears and offered to help in any way they could. Several nearby residents left their phone numbers and demanded to call if we needed anything. Families stopped in with gifts that their children made. One family had a young daughter who made several thin blue line bracelets that she wished to give to officers. Nearby Business owners/employees stopped in and offered to help and bought food items and gifts for the O'Sullivan Family. Elk Grove PD and the community have helped so much with the healing of this tragic loss. It will be a long road to healing from this situation, but I cannot express enough my gratitude and appreciation to Elk Grove PD and the Community you serve so well.
