Ramadan Part 3 of 3 . So. I did put a fair amount of time into this masjid, which I'm quite proud of. To see the joy and screams of excitement that erupted from my children at the sight of it. Today's day 10 of ramadan for us and they've been cooped up in there full time with their Qurans, books and toys and persisted on having read aloud times only in there. So worth it Alhamdulillah. . . As for the build: Although I really would love to obtain the wooden one next time inshaAllah, I purchased the cardboard dome kit from my talented friend @my1stmasjid this year. It came with the little cardboard cutouts which I spray painted gold. For the frame I used pvc pipes and joins rather than timber because it was easier to assemble and disassemble - although I'm quite sure the kids mean for it to have a permanent spot in our home after ramadan. ☺️ I used sheets, fairy lights and fake plants I had at home to accessorise. And the posters inside are both from @poppetry_shop . . The calender was a diy idea I got off pinterest and @the_modestlife helped with the finer details - baarakAllahu feek friend ❤️. I just had the tags custom made by someone on etsy because I couldn't find anything like it (strange hey?). . My main purchase this year was the gorgeous plaque by @studionayma . Yes, this investment was entirely for me and yes, I would call it an investment ☺️ - I mean we are allowed some things for ourselves, am I right? And the beautiful geometric moon and stars were gifted by my dear friend @zedandq . I am in love with all of these versatile wooden hangings which we can reuse year after year inshaAllah. . . That concludes my three posts on our ramadan corner! Apologies as I couldn't quite fit everything I wanted to say into one and it took me a while to post . . CREATIVITY IN NOT WAITING: One of my big goals pre-Ramadan was to have our family room completed before the month began, especially since we spend so much time in it. I really wanted it to be perfect for these special days. Unfortunately once we decided on outsourcing a part of this project my goal wasn’t met. I was a little disappointed but decided on not waiting for it to be finished to get it Ramadan ready. . . Previously I wouldn’t have set anything up until the room was 100% complete. So many excuses would be holding me back...It wouldn’t look pretty, I would have to undo everything and redo it if the construction continues ...the list of reasons goes on and on, but after seeing the loss of @chrislovesjulia cabin and knowing your house is never really done I decided on decorating our family room bare sheet rock, removed molding, showing screws and all. . . And guess what hubby said to me last night. He goes you know this is the first Ramadan in our house that I FEEL like it’s Ramadan with every corner I turn. 5 days until Eid! One new tradition in our home is making graham cracker mosques. Warning: do not make while fasting. It will quickly go from quality time with the kids to hangry mom is on the loose (which totally happened). Confession, I am terrible at decorating baked goods. When you look up Pinterest fail in the dictionary, it's a photo of my iced sugar cookies. But this project was pretty easy, maybe because after 5 minutes of stressing about the blue icing nozzle, I decided to just put it away. That's my mantra for 2019, if something doesn't bring me joy, toss it. This includes: weight scales and trolls. The shopping list to recreate this is: graham crackers, icing, fancy sprinkles, dome-y foods (meringue, kisses), and baton wafers.
