My favorite classroom hack: BINDER CLIPS for bulletin board set up!! After measuring and cutting my paper, I roll it up and binder clip it to itself. Then, slowly unclip, unroll, and staple as you go! This trick as saved me so much time and frustration during classroom setup! And that’s a wrap on my first week of school! Oh, what a week it was! Does anyone else manage to forget year after year just how exhausting the first week of school is? I spent 97% of each day repeating rules, procedures, and setting boundaries to make sure our year runs smoothly. Note to future self: Stop writing lesson plans the first week of school. ☺️My students loved seeing what I looked like in kindergarten last year! In fact, some couldn’t even believe I even went to Kindergarten! Easiest door sign ever! Also, my nephew said “oh wow, they had different hair styles back then...” I don’t even know what he meant by “back then”.

Early finisher tasks are one of the first things that’ll go up, and you know what’s going to go down? The amount of times I have stop and repeat what to do when done! I’m their reading teacher, but I’m definitely not tying all tasks directly to reading. We love options, and I’m all for educating the whole child. All interests and new ideas welcome to the board. You can get several years out of them! Also, this pic is from last year so I will in fact be doing all the bulletin boards this year

This was one of my favorite classroom projects ever! I always hated the icky color of these built-in cabinets, then one day it hit me... contact paper! I had to take off the handles to do it (oops! ) and it took a long time to measure, cut, and apply, but I think it was definitely worth the effort! I finished it off by hot gluing some grosgrain ribbon around the edges. It was a little pop of bright and it camouflaged all of the jagged edges!
