Jump to Straddle
Since my press to handstand course is closing for registration on Friday I wanted to share a quick drill that will help you understand the concept of the sequence for the press. Plus you will get to work on compression while upside down.
The key with this drill is to jump up and roll your body up to handstand. However much your butt wants to win the race to handstand make sure it is the last part to move into alignment. Shoulders, upper back, lower back and then the big butt.
This is a great way to train for the sequencing of the press to handstand where you will do the same thing in slow motion.

Movement is medicine and hip hop is just good for the soul sometimes. I chose this as my flow background today and it was on purpose. It’s unconventional, but it’s what I felt like listening to. Yoga isn’t about the way it looks or which asana you nailed or whether it’s conventional or not to listen to hip hop while practicing. It’s about what you will get out of your daily practice; it’s about letting go of all expectations (about yourself, your practice and others) and it’s about surrendering to the flow of movements and to the tranquility of your mind. Find your safe space on your mat.
